To think we would be better off at McDonald's!

Its coming up to my birthday so arranged to go for a day of shopping with DH and DC at the Trafford centre, thought I'd have a look in advance at the restaurants and book.

The prices are so high £20+ for a burger? Which fair enough eating out you expect but all of the reviews are awful! Iv looked at 4 restaurants and all of them have disappointed customers!

We are looking at £100+ with drinks and dessert for what looks like McDonald's standard food!

How does everyone find nice places to eat now? Seems like everything's gone down hill since covid but prices have gone up 😩

@AlmostAJillSandwich

Trafford centre you say? Just across the road is a lovely pub type restaurant called Coppice wood farm, decently priced.

Cheap as chips, think the carvery is about £5.99. There's something for everyone in that place.

@RedToothBrush

(Worth pointing out Tampopo has a sister takeaway only unit downstairs which is cheaper and has variations on the main menu upstairs)
I didn’t know this! Is it still called Tampopo? I must’ve walked past without noticing. I’ve not been to the TC in over a year though
LivingDeadGirlUK · 20/02/2022 20:49

Oooh I didn't know they have a Tampopo, the one in town is lovely. Very reasonable price too.

balalake · 20/02/2022 20:50

Perhaps look at options that are a couple of stops away on the tram?

Lemonata · 20/02/2022 20:51

Not the most interesting food but there is a wetherspoons over near Chill factore. I think it’s called castle in the sky (or maybe air?)

DecemberGal · 20/02/2022 20:59

When we have eaten at a restaurant in TC we usually just have a main and then later an ice cream from Maccys/kiosk or get some cream cakes from Marks and coffee and sit in food court.

kwaziseyepatch · 20/02/2022 20:59

100% tampopo!

RedToothBrush · 20/02/2022 21:02

East Street by Tampopo - its part of the brand. Downstairs next to Shere Khan.

tampopo.co.uk/menus/kiosk-menu/

Its not as flash as Tampopo and the menu is smaller but it is cheaper.

RedToothBrush · 20/02/2022 21:12

Main dishes for East Street.

You can't knock the prices (the one thing I would suggest is to buy your drinks from elsewhere - maybe Mcdonalds as thats where they sting you).

If you love Tampopo but don't want a sit down meal and want to save, its a good call.

Wow! It has my favourite meals on there that I would order anyway, I will make an effort this week to go try it. I get what you are saying about the drinks, they aren’t ever quite what I would want either.
RestingPandaFace · 20/02/2022 21:42

If you want ordinary pub food the coppice wood farm across the road, also ridiculously massive cakes.

If you want good pub food Saracens head in Warburton (15 minutes drive and just slightly off the route back to the M6 if travelling)

If you want burgers go to Solita in Didsbury -also no more than 15 minutes drive. Try the cheeseburger spring rolls 😋

RestingPandaFace · 20/02/2022 21:43

For noodles etc stay in TC and go to Tampopo or Chaobaby

I've been to Solita in the city centre and it has THE most amazing burgers. I do recommend the veggie burger. I'm not veggie. DH had food envy and thought it was better than his meat burger!

There are lots of little non chain restuarants in Alty. The market gets the hype but actually the restuarants around it are better.

3Daddy31982 · 20/02/2022 22:32

Go to Hard Rock Cafe in The PrintWorks

BlackeyedSusan · 20/02/2022 22:50

You can't beat a McDonald's burger. Why bother?

Redshoeblueshoe · 20/02/2022 22:56

Actually the cakes at Coppice Wood Farm really are enormous Cake
