Heart Of Glass makes me want to be violent, I cannot stand it. I’m not sure what it is. But something about the lyrics, voice and tune trigger something inside me. It came on the radio in the delivery room whilst I was in active labour and it made me distressed until it was turned off.

Also, Ed Sheeran’s songs. Mainly due to the weird lyrics. “My bedsheets smell like you.” Wtf? And in a recent one “I want to drink your smile.” How does one ‘drink a smile’? On the rocks? Also the song where he goes on about all of the depressing hardships his (I’m guessing made-up for the song) friends have fallen upon. One doesn’t see his kids, one is divorced, bla bla bla. It annoys me because it’s not his place to go on about their (made-up, in all fairness) problems for a good song. If the friends are real I hope he asked for permission. This is the same song where he goes on about driving 90mph down country lanes. And the less said about Galway Girl the better.

Taylor swift "you can read me like a magazine" What? Full of ads for things you don't want, does she mean take a break or something a little more high brow?

That new George Ezra one. Tiger lily moved to the city... so he gives her his number if she needs anyone, then in another verse says to remember him for who he is not what he did. What did he do? Creepily gave her his number for a shag? Had the shag, not her thing so she moved on and he still can't get over it. Yeah, man up, she's just not into you.

woodhill · 20/02/2022 16:51

Not keen on Annie I'm not your daddy though by Kid Creole

littlepeas · 20/02/2022 16:52

My name is also in a song - someone on here has the line with it in as their username and has spelt it incorrectly. Is it weird that I noticed that?

I dislike many songs but my first thought was Ed Sheeran's Castle on the Hill - the driving at 90 bit makes me really cross.

Vicliz24 · 20/02/2022 16:56

Golden Brown by the Stranglers makes my teeth itch . Umbrella by Rhianna gives me rage and Happy Pharell Williams I could truly vomit .

Number4224 · 20/02/2022 16:57

Stand by your man, gets turned off in seconds if it comes on the radio

chorusline79 · 20/02/2022 16:59

The beautiful south - particularly the song 'don't marry her' but I actually hate all their lyrics and songs in general. Just make me cringe.

Molehillfromamountain · 20/02/2022 17:00

Killing in the Name-Rage Against The Machine and In The Morning- Razorlight can't bear them.

ThePlumVan · 20/02/2022 17:01

Single Ladies

‘…put a ring on it’

UGH

Disneyblueeyes · 20/02/2022 17:02

What's that really horrible duet - Janet Jackson and someone else. Really gushy and cringy.

Yea. I hate that one. Magic like to play that alot.

the80sweregreat · 20/02/2022 17:03

Ed wasn't driving at 90 around those lanes in Suffolk ; you just can't do this!
I feel he is singing porkies.

Disneyblueeyes · 20/02/2022 17:04

Ah yes'the best things in life are free'.
Fucking awful.

CruCru · 20/02/2022 17:04

@ImprobablePuffin

Thatsplentyjack I won't say which exact song because it has my name in it. That's why I hate it. Guaranteed anytime I meet someone new (male) in a situation where alcohol is involved they will sing the song at me.

Apart from that there are probably at least 100 more songs that I just can't stand

Some good guesses on this one - I immediately assumed it was Alice....who the fuck is Alice.

Ah, I've assumed it's Cecilia ... I can imagine a bunch of dudes deciding to sing Simon and Garfunkel when they've had a drink.

I hate:

Love Shack (it's just bollocks)
Would I lie to you? (mainly because a friend once said how enraging the lyrics "Look into my eyes, can't you see they're open wide?" were - liars don't HAVE to squint)
Dancing Queen (so depressing)
Never Ever by All Saints (so whiny, so needy, whoever the dude is was right to leave)
Rhythm is a dancer

SecondRow · 20/02/2022 17:04

There's a song the first line of which is "Why you always in a mood?" which puts my back up right from the start and it only gets worse from there. "Only thing I need to know is if you're wet enough" AngryEnvy Fucking hell, I have the kids in the car! This comes on the radio in the middle of the day, entirely uncensored Hmm

This is in Germany so I get that most people aren't taking in the lyrics that closely but it's a publicly funded broadcaster so I'm paying to have my ears assaulted by this misogynistic bullshit. Been meaning to write them a snotty letter for months now!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/02/2022 17:05

"Dancing Queen"
I love Abba , went to see an Abba Tribute with DD before Christmas , they played it right at the start .
Great gets it out of the way , I thought
Nope they played it twice , it was the emcore

"Do they Know It's Christmas" and all the re hashes of it .

Love a bit of Blurred Lines though

user1481840227 · 20/02/2022 17:07

Dance monkey or whatever it's called Angry

CherylStreep · 20/02/2022 17:07

Wasn't Expecting That - Jamie Lawless
Pompeii - Bastille
Walking on Sunshine

BeyondMyWits · 20/02/2022 17:08

Baby it's cold outside... especially Tom Jones/Cerys Matthews version... they made it sound so sleazy.

CurryLover55 · 20/02/2022 17:13

It Wasn’t Me which is by Shaggy I think. I always switch channels when it comes on the radio, especially when DD13 is there. Awful song.

maddiemookins16mum · 20/02/2022 17:14

Bleeding love by Leona Lewis and also The Boy does Nothing by Alesha Dixon.

the80sweregreat · 20/02/2022 17:14

Lyrics and songs is why I listen to lbc these days ! Just people moaning on about the government instead.

GoodnightJude1 · 20/02/2022 17:15

Sweet Caroline - it makes me want to rip my ears off. It’s even worse when people screech it on karaoke Angry

Mambo #5 - It reminds me of my Ex and genuinely makes me feel sick when I hear it.

Anything and everything by the Bee Gees.

tickingthebox73 · 20/02/2022 17:15

Oh no - That's a fabulous song! Have you seen the video....

Don't stand so close to me by The Police - weirdly inappropriate
Every Breath you take - The Police - Stalkerville
You're Beautiful - James Blunt - stalker city
Girl you'll be a woman soon - Neil Diamond - Hmm

thestarvingcaterpillar · 20/02/2022 17:16

Anything by Rod Stewart - misogynistic bollocks!

WhisperGold · 20/02/2022 17:17

So many great songs here.
But back to the duffers.
You're beautiful - James Blunt.
Tell us what your plan is FGS!

maddiemookins16mum · 20/02/2022 17:17

@Squaffle

Fairground by Simply Red makes me want to rip my ears off. Likewise, Missing by Everything But The Girl. Both huge hits in their day which drive me absolutely bonkers!
Oh my, two of my favourite ever songs 😂😂
