Heart Of Glass makes me want to be violent, I cannot stand it. I’m not sure what it is. But something about the lyrics, voice and tune trigger something inside me. It came on the radio in the delivery room whilst I was in active labour and it made me distressed until it was turned off.

Also, Ed Sheeran’s songs. Mainly due to the weird lyrics. “My bedsheets smell like you.” Wtf? And in a recent one “I want to drink your smile.” How does one ‘drink a smile’? On the rocks? Also the song where he goes on about all of the depressing hardships his (I’m guessing made-up for the song) friends have fallen upon. One doesn’t see his kids, one is divorced, bla bla bla. It annoys me because it’s not his place to go on about their (made-up, in all fairness) problems for a good song. If the friends are real I hope he asked for permission. This is the same song where he goes on about driving 90mph down country lanes. And the less said about Galway Girl the better.

Any growling song

Mama used to say - Junior
When will I be famous - Bros

I'm sure there are others but I have to switch off anything that has that stupid growling in

OliviaBond · 22/02/2022 11:33

Blurred lines

Robstersgirl · 22/02/2022 11:35

Young girl - ‘get out of my mind, my love for you is way out of line’ Hmm

ohMaggieMaggieMae · 22/02/2022 11:40

@charliebear78

For some reason radio two keeps playing fairground by simply red...I have turned it off.
Grinwe have been rumbled. Expect all the songs named on this thread to be overplayed even more
cobblers123 · 22/02/2022 11:54

That absolutely horrible song Sometimes When We Touch, think it's by Dan somebodyor other, that has been played on the Radio 2 love song by Ken a few times.

I hate that song so much I think it surpasses my hatred of The Power of Love by Jennifer Rush.

Cocycola · 22/02/2022 12:07

There are a few!

Lady Marmalade
Mambo Number 5
A Little Less Conversation

2Gen · 22/02/2022 12:23

There's so many songs I dislike, the list would be pages long but the ones I really hate are-
Agadoo- by Black Lace. Absolute shite, bilge, brain-numbingly crap! And the stupid-looking bollix that sings it! Grrrr!
Kisses for Me- By Brotherhood of Man. That used to make me so angry that whenever it came on, I'd stick my fingers in my ears, even if it was at one of the teenage discos I used to go to! I just DESPISED it.
The bloody Birdie Song! How come no one else has mentioned that? Surely I can't be the only one who hates it?
When I was small, Roy Orbison used to really disturb me, on a visceral level. I hated Pretty Woman and Crying! I couldn't bear him nor his voice nor any of his songs. I'm no longer afraid of him ( I would need psychiatric help if I was, lol) but I still don't like his music.
I also hated Englebert Humperdink. I hated his stupid name, his crap song and most of all his sideburns! Why did men think they were a good look in the early 70s? Yuk!

Cocycola · 22/02/2022 12:42

Oh, and how could I forget the song that makes me want to scratch my eyes out...

Fatman Scoop Be Faithful 😖😖

Whiskeywithwater · 22/02/2022 12:56

@Thatsplentyjack

I won't say which exact song because it has my name in it. That's why I hate it. Guaranteed anytime I meet someone new (male) in a situation where alcohol is involved they will sing the song at me.

Apart from that there are probably at least 100 more songs that I just can't stand.

Ha - bet your name is the same as mine. Last year was challenging ..
Diditreallylookawful · 22/02/2022 12:59

Umbrella, or to put it as in the song, UmbERella. I don't want to share your brolly ... Aargh!

WhatASmashingBlouseYouHaveOn · 22/02/2022 13:11

Here's one that I don't think has been mentioned yet.....Fight for Your Right to Party by the Beastie Boys.....too shouty by far.

OperationDog · 22/02/2022 13:15

He always gave me the creeps, even as an adult!

suckingonchillidogs · 22/02/2022 13:44

Poor Roy, he had a very sad life!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 22/02/2022 13:49

This reminds me - any song with men singing in falsetto for more than a few lines. Who the hell enjoys listening to the Bee Gees?

I'm sorry you feel that way to make you criticise these lovely men. For what it's worth, they speak very highly of you Grin Grin Grin

I agree - occasional falsetto can be used for special emphasis and to reach a powerful musical peak outside the normal range. If you're using it for every single note, you'll probably want to look into keys and finding a more suitable one for your voice.

the80sweregreat · 22/02/2022 14:12

I also didn't like the umbrella song until I saw a video of Rhianna singing it for a special bbc performance and she really nailed it.
It made me hear it in a whole new light.
It's the same when upbeat songs become slower , it changes its dynamic.

shepabear · 22/02/2022 14:28

Anything by Texas - it's all just so bland and dull. Totally overplayed on the radio in the 90's and my dad used to play their albums all the time on car journeys. There was no escape!

Totally agree with Toploader Dancing in the Moonlight. Nobody likes it - why is it still being played on the radio?! It's so shit.

Love love love Beyoncé but totally agree with a PP that Halo is dreadful. And her 'to the left' song. I just don't get it!

the80sweregreat · 22/02/2022 14:34

I loath anything by the Pretenders
Chrissie's annoying fringe , the way they tried to be cool , brass in bloody pocket.

4kinell · 22/02/2022 14:58

I really hate the wind beneath my wings . I know it's supposed to be a tribute to somebody else but to me it just comes across as self congratulatory and narcissistic . It's like they're saying "Look at me , I'm so great and your a nobody but I couldn't have done it without you so thanks for that "

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 22/02/2022 15:11

And i have very mixed feelings about Moonlight Shadow by Mike Oldfield.

After Simon Day did 'Dave Angel, Eco Warrior' I can never look at that song in the same way again ...

Geneva12 · 22/02/2022 16:34

Billie Jean by Michael Jackson.

Absolutely love all his other songs but this one really winds me up. I think it’s just because it was over played all the Pubs/clubs I was in when I was younger.

I had a party for one of my birthdays and asked the DJ if anyone requested it NOT to play it.

tothesea · 22/02/2022 16:41

Living on a Prayer …ooga ooga ooga ooga hand slams radio off hate it with a passion.
My most hated hasn’t been mentioned yet.. I give you ‘We built this City’ by Starship. I love 80’s music but there was huge amounts of really annoying repetitive shit music that got played endlessly..and this is the worst one!

the80sweregreat · 22/02/2022 17:25

I Love 'living on a prayer ' ! It's a classic 80s tune!!
'Waiting for a star to fall ' has me turning off the radio , that is terrible.

woodhill · 22/02/2022 17:44

Yes, hilarious

I must admit some of the 80s anthems are dirgey

Not keen on born in the USA either

JustDanceAddict · 22/02/2022 17:51

Love Shack is one of the worst songs ever!!
Hey Jude - it’s the na na na bit that is so annoying.
‘Someone’s Knocking on the Door’ esp when used for Postcode Lottery

JustDanceAddict · 22/02/2022 17:52

@Purpleavocado

You're Gorgeous, that song is creepy!
Agree!!
