Heart Of Glass makes me want to be violent, I cannot stand it. I’m not sure what it is. But something about the lyrics, voice and tune trigger something inside me. It came on the radio in the delivery room whilst I was in active labour and it made me distressed until it was turned off.

Also, Ed Sheeran’s songs. Mainly due to the weird lyrics. “My bedsheets smell like you.” Wtf? And in a recent one “I want to drink your smile.” How does one ‘drink a smile’? On the rocks? Also the song where he goes on about all of the depressing hardships his (I’m guessing made-up for the song) friends have fallen upon. One doesn’t see his kids, one is divorced, bla bla bla. It annoys me because it’s not his place to go on about their (made-up, in all fairness) problems for a good song. If the friends are real I hope he asked for permission. This is the same song where he goes on about driving 90mph down country lanes. And the less said about Galway Girl the better.

@Stevearnottsbeard

John Lennon's imagine. I really don't understand how so many people think it's one of the greatest songs in the world, including my husband. I actually hate it so much it makes me angry. Really don't know why 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️
Me too!! Never ever understood the hype about this song.
Peccary · 20/02/2022 22:18

Anything by Maroon 5 but Payphone has a special place in hell

Isababybel · 20/02/2022 22:19

@a28s

Pharrell Williams 'Happy' 🤬 I've always said if anyone wanted to torture me, all they'd have to do is lock me in a room and play it on repeat. I've never had a song get under my skin so much yet have no explanation as to why!!
Fucking loathe this song too!!!

Maroon 5 Moves Like Jagger
All Adele songs

BogRollBOGOF · 20/02/2022 22:19

9 to 5 and Band of Gold, normally when played at wedding discos as they so often are. I don't want to think about workplaces at a disco. Band of Gold is about her being left with a band of gold at the end of the relationship. Young Hearts Run Free can join the club too, she's jaded with love.

UB40s Red Red Wine is a tedious, nasal dirge.

Any inarticulate wailings by a whole pile of current female singers including Ariana Grande, Sia and Anne Marie. The annoying thing is that when they sing in a more natural style, they have got decent voices, it's the whole over-produced style that grates on the ear drums.

Moonlightdust · 20/02/2022 22:19

Lizzo - good as hell. I just can’t stand it. Angry
Also Brittany Spears Toxic and The black eyed peas - pump it.
I don’t know why but they just trigger something in me.

Katya213 · 20/02/2022 22:28

Wannabe, spice girls. I remember hearing it on the radio and thinking oh Jesus Christ that has to be the worst song Ive ever heard.

onlymyselftoanswerto1 · 20/02/2022 22:29

Dance hall days by Wang Chung. Loathe it! Thankfully not played much anymore. Also George Ezra kinda gives me the creeps with his voice. I'm sure he's a lovely chap tho... 🤣

Chocolattay · 20/02/2022 22:30

That “All that she wants is another baby”. Somebody once told me she thought it was about a broody woman desperately wanting an actual baby rather than a romance song Grin

Simply red, fairground. Awful and nauseating.

Moonlightdust · 20/02/2022 22:31

Love shack and Agadoo are the most cringeworthy songs and at past discos I would have to walk out if they were being played.

I’m also not keen on Amy Winehouse’s songs (Sorry RIP) . Heart radio are obsessed with playing her music.

Caterinasballerinas · 20/02/2022 22:45

@Tothemoonandbackx

It feels so good - by Sonique, I just cannot stand that song, I don't really know why, but it makes me want to slam the brake on and go straight through the windscreen when it inevitably comes on Heart for the Bazzillionth time AngryAngryAngry !!!
I’ll tell you why. That song denied the now classic Reach by sclub7 from reaching number one! I know how to hold a pop music related grudge!
Thenamegame0 · 20/02/2022 22:49

God, most things post late 90s/2000 tbh

Missdread · 20/02/2022 22:49

@Chocolattay @MooseBreath talking of Bruno Mars being creepy, there's that horrific song he did about gorillas. I just googled the lyrics and they are properly disgusting:

"Ooh ooh ooh yeah, you and me baby making love like gorillas
Ooh ooh ooh yeah, you and me baby making love like gorillas
Yeah I got a fistful of your hair
But you don't look like you're scared
You're just smiling tell me daddy it's yours
'Cause you know how I like it use a dirty little lover
If the neighbors call the cops, call the sheriff
Call the swat we don't stop
We keep rocking while they knocking on our door
And you're screaming give it to me baby
Give it to me motherf**r"

Nice guy!Hmm

ChocolateCakeYum · 20/02/2022 22:52

Anything by Ed Sheeran.

It’s raining men. Cringe

Chocolattay · 20/02/2022 22:53

@Missdread.

God, I hadn’t heard of that. Now I just loathe him even more. He gives me the heebies

Mine are any of those ridiculously overplayed happy chirpy pop yawnfests such as....

Toploader Dancing in the Moonlight
New Radicals Get What You Give
Boo Radleys Wake Up Boo

And anything by Adele, especially the latest. It really is painful on the ears!

Lovesabadboy · 20/02/2022 22:54

Love Shack (so glad to see I am not the only one who hates this!)
Band of Gold - overplayed since 1970!
Patience by Take That (was never into TT, but this one made me feel particularly queasy)
Anything by the Beatles but especially Hey Jude
Anything by Adele - all so depressing
Where do you go to my Lovely (Peter Sarstedt) shudder

A lot of you have mentioned the Dr Hook track 'A Little Bit More', but so many of their tracks are so creepy and misogynistic. Yuck!

MooseBreath · 20/02/2022 22:58

@Missdread Whoa. I don't know that song. I'm not a fan of his style of music and other than Uptown Funk (such a tune!), I would only ever hear it on the radio. Now I actively dislike him.

Flutterby8 · 20/02/2022 23:00

Anything by George Ezra.
His voice doesnt match his looks if you get what I mean.
I just find him bloody creepy.

Ed Sheeran stuff.
Seen him live, spent a bomb on tickets and was SO unimpressed. He has zero stage presence. His songs sound the same and are so overplayed on the radio.

Chocolattay · 20/02/2022 23:02

Just really annoys me the ‘one’s brother overdosed’ in Castle On The Hill. Whenever I hear it I want to scream:

“ED, YOUR FRIEND’s BROTHER OVERDOSING IS NOT ABOUT YOU, NOR DOES IT MAKE YOU SALT OF THE EARTH OR ‘RELATABLE’”

I hate Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd.

'🎶We don't need no education🎶' well actually you do.
