Heart Of Glass makes me want to be violent, I cannot stand it. I’m not sure what it is. But something about the lyrics, voice and tune trigger something inside me. It came on the radio in the delivery room whilst I was in active labour and it made me distressed until it was turned off.

Also, Ed Sheeran’s songs. Mainly due to the weird lyrics. “My bedsheets smell like you.” Wtf? And in a recent one “I want to drink your smile.” How does one ‘drink a smile’? On the rocks? Also the song where he goes on about all of the depressing hardships his (I’m guessing made-up for the song) friends have fallen upon. One doesn’t see his kids, one is divorced, bla bla bla. It annoys me because it’s not his place to go on about their (made-up, in all fairness) problems for a good song. If the friends are real I hope he asked for permission. This is the same song where he goes on about driving 90mph down country lanes. And the less said about Galway Girl the better.

Driving home for Christmas makes me want to cut my own ears off and sew the holes shut. I adore Christmas but this song makes me dread stepping into any shop from the 1st December

MarrymeTomHardy · 20/02/2022 18:11

@Purpleavocado

You're Gorgeous, that song is creepy!
Completely agree - I have to turn the radio over when it comes on; I hated it when it came out & I still hate it now!
HazelBite · 20/02/2022 18:15

Come on Eileen, why oh why is it always stuck on by DJ's as a floor filler at weddings etc?

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 20/02/2022 18:18

Anything by Katie Melua. Awful lyrics and hate the way she 'sings through the note' - she just sounds as flat as a pancake to me!

TrickorTreacle · 20/02/2022 18:20

Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You - the most over-played Cmas song of all time!

The battle of Britpop with Oasis Roll With It vs Blur's Country Life. They both decided to pick the worst songs from their respective albums to pit against each other for the no.1 spot. The media hype around it was so irritating as well.

Take That - Back For Good - just didn't like it compared to their more upbeat stuff

Hanson - mmm Bop - just rage inducing.

Crazy Frog - Axel F

Eiffel 65 - Blue (daa baa blaa blaa blaa)

Cher - Believe - was played in the clubs for so long!

Wet Wet Wet - Love Is All Around - again was around for too long

Notjustanymum · 20/02/2022 18:22

I second Fairground by Simply Red, oh, and The Lady in Red….

Maybe I just don’t like red!

lonelyapple · 20/02/2022 18:26

BorderlineHappy · 20/02/2022 18:29

Sweet Caroline - it makes me want to rip my ears off. It’s even worse when people screech it on karaoke Angry

Mambo #5 - It reminds me of my Ex and genuinely makes me feel sick when I hear it.

Anything and everything by the Bee Gees.

Songs that remind you of an ex and make you feel sick..Grin

@Crocusee

So many of these!! For me I have always absolutely despised Red Red Wine , makes me literally spit bricks if it comes on the radio!!
I only like UB40's 12" version, the part when i think it is Astro, and he starts rapping about red wine making him feel so fine Grin
Aweefatcat · 20/02/2022 18:49

Blurred lines!!

ChateauxNeufDePoop · 20/02/2022 18:53

Independent Women re the Charlies Angels film.

No, they literally risked death because a man, safe in his office, told them to.

katseyes7 · 20/02/2022 18:53

Springsteen's Born in the USA.
Monotonous bellowing. Just awful.

Catpuke · 20/02/2022 18:54

Another one for Man I Feel Like a Woman. Shut up.

Cocomelonearworm · 20/02/2022 19:07

That bloody awful song from a few years ago called "Cheerleader". Incredibly sexist lyrics basically patting his girlfriend on the head for being pretty and sweet and compliant. Urrrrgh.

TheChosenTwo · 20/02/2022 19:08

Omg I’ve thought of another one, Moloko bring it back (sing it back, bring it back… blah blah blah). Wish Someone could bring it back to a time before it existed. Makes me want to pierce my own eardrum Angry

BoredZelda · 20/02/2022 19:09

It's all a bit repetitive isn't it?I don't know if it's the done thing to say you don't rate Queen though.

This reminds me of Angus Young of AC/DC, ”I’m sick to death of people saying we’ve made 11 albums that sound exactly the same. In fact, we’ve made 12 albums that sound exactly the same”

It’s what bands do. If a band moves far from their sound, their fans don’t like it, so why would they?

Your Woman is one of my favourite songs ever!
StiffyBing · 20/02/2022 19:13

Anything by Van Morrison, but particularly Brown Eyed Girl.

I meant 'Don't stop me Now' was a bit repetitive, not the whole Queen back catalogue. I think their songs are pretty varied, although obviously there's Freddie's voice which is the same mostly, and a bit overrated too IMO.

They certainly didn't stay with the Bohemian Rhapsody style.

cobblers123 · 20/02/2022 19:21

Everybody Hurts - REM
Imagine - John Lennon
Anything by George Ezra especially that bloody Shotgun song
