Head over a bowl of steaming hot water - clears sinuses and throat, a hot chilli meal - clears sinuses and throat, lie down in front of easy to watch TV that encourages you to 'drop off' and save your energy.

Is it your main concern to get rid of the symptoms, or to be less contagious? If it's the former then get as much sleep as you can, and take a strong cold & flu tablet in the morning. They always help me battle through if needed.

If the symptoms got better then worse, you might have a secondary infection like a sinus infection or bronchitis etc.

Sounds miserable OP. I see you’re working today but I swear by a hot toddy. Whisky (if you have it, amount to your taste), lemon juice (a big squeeze), a teaspoonful of honey. Top up the glass with hot water and sip. To follow (if you haven’t already had the recommended dose), a couple of paracetamol. Doesn’t finish off the cold but is very comforting.

Paracetamol and a Mug of hot lemonade (sounds disgusting and it is but it seriously works) just before bed and it'll help you sweat out the cold in your sleep.

Night nurse and sleep

Snap! Wide awake despite being knackered due to streaming nose, coughs and sneezes. Its miserable.
Luckily for me I am on half term but I have had to cancel tomorrow's (today's) plans due to not feeling great and looking worse.

Bright red nose from much nose blowing!

There are no tricks. Viruses take their time. However your body does most of its repair work, as it were, when you sleep so, nap if you can.

Pain relief, decongestant and water, water, water!!!

Wiredforsound · 21/02/2022 04:30

Using a few drop of Olbas Oil in an oil burner really helps soothe a cold.

AllisoninWunderland · 21/02/2022 05:52

Lots of water and rest. Light foods especially soups. Elderberry syrup with vitamin C and Zinc. Get well soon.

Just jumping on if no-one minds. I have covid and my body is aching so much. I always get 'weak' and painful areas like my wrists and shoulders when I have a virus but I feel awful. I've had two cocodamol 30/500 an hour and a half ago and I've got two heat pads on, but my back, neck, everything hurts, even my skin to touch! Any tips? Will have a bath later but I don't have the energy yet and the kids will be up soon. I have naproxen here aswell but I need to eat something for that and no appetite, plus I want to space out the painkillers as effectively as possible. Any rubs or anything? When I go to bed I can't get comfortable as my back, shoulders and neck keep seizing up in every position AngrySad
I hope you feel much better soon OP Flowers

eldora · 21/02/2022 06:17

Is there someone who could rub Voltarol or Deep Heat on the painful areas @MinnieJackson ?

I do this for my mum once a week and she feels the befits for a few days afterwards.

Try and eat something bland and take the naproxen.

MinnieJackson · 21/02/2022 22:10

Thank you @Eldora I feel so poorly! Really dizzy and when I walk or stand it feels like I'm on one of those cake walk things. Hope this doesn't hang around too long!
