I have a comic book geek OH, he's tried to explain super hero stuff so many times (usually when he's making me watch one of the million films that you have to have an encyclopedic knowledge of the comics to make any sense of I don't) and I'm with you OP, I didn't know they were in different worlds!

I have a teenage niece. There is nothing quite like a teenager rolling their eyes at you in the face of an innocuous question to remind you that you are a) not a teenager any more (thank fuck) and b) make you feel every single bloody second of your age.

I like it when they assume you can't possibly know a single thing about a superhero franchise that's been going since before their grandparents were born.

Mate, you remember the jokes in Big Bang Theory about how they were the only females in the Comic Book Store? Now try imagining doing that in 1982 in Forbidden Planet. Yup, all the way back in the Olden Days.

Well technically they are both vigilantes but definitely from different multiverses. And batman is the brooding billionaire and spiderman is a geeky teen so probably wouldn't be besties maybe more of a batman and Robin dynamic.

I once suggested to DH that David Morrissey as the new Dr Who ( he was in the 2008 Christmas Special with David Tennant ) and was bloody brilliant
DH rolled his eyes out of hid head and explained about the Time/Space Continium (yawn) that he couldn't be

I've tried to get mine to explain about Marvel etc. and I still don't understand. After sitting through 20 billion episodes of BBT, and all the Harry Potter films, we were meant to move on to Marvel. I did Ironman, not entirely ungratefully, and then somehow we forgot to do the others...
