I have become addicted to this you tube live feed of flights landing at London Heathrow AIBU that me and the kids have ‘wasted’ the morning watching it or should I have dragged them out for some fresh air.

Reminds me of the very long ago days when I was new cabin crew, and had to sit behind the captain for T/O and landing if the plane was full. One landing in particular was so bloody hairy - plane was all over the place and sitting there, rather than in the cabin, you were that much more aware. I was convinced a wing tip was going to hit the deck.

But this was so long ago that many of the captains were ex WW2 RAF, nothing seemed to faze them.

My husband was watching this for around 3 hours, he barely moved or if he did it was still watching it

You've not wasted your time at all.

Should you ever be on a flight where the pilot and co-pilot fall into comas You may have gleaned a rudimentary knowledge of how a huge airliner handles in gale force conditions and be able to advise one of the remaining, dithering cabin crew how best to deal with the situation.

You might save everybody's life!

YANBU. Have been checking it since lovely poster gave us the link on the other threads. Making the tea is so boring in comparison
I also concur that it has educational value and is therefore an excellent way to spend my time

I just could not watch it, I'd never board a plane again!

I hate flying. Hate it. But I found it very reassuring. So many flights landing safely in treacherous conditions shows how safe flying really is and how skilled pilots and crew are. I find flight radar 24 very soothing too for the same reason. Doesn't stop me feeling like running up and down the plane screaming when I'm on it, mind .

Bosh !!!! I have a new found respect for the double decker A380 and clapped when the plane managed to land on it's third go!!!

I'm just glad I wasn't on any of those planes. Scary stuff.
