I had hoped to take dc to cinema today. Our local cinema is part of a shopping centre so once you get there and park in the multi storey car park you don't have to go outside to access it. It's about a 15 minute drive. Dh says I'm silly to go out in the storm - we are inland and it's not really ramped up yet, lots of rain but no wind yet. Although it is set to get worse later.

I obviously wouldn't plan to do anything outdoorsy with dc today but would you cancel something like this because of the weather?

We should have been at legoland, travelling from the midlands. I was unsure given the forecast but they took the decision out of my hands by closing and we are now going tomorrow instead so a day at home today! I wouldn’t drive unless it was essential.

It's a bit of a lockdown feel in our house. DH and I are working and the DCs are at home with us so it's a day of balancing everything.
DS was supposed to be with grandparents today so is gutted to be missing that and DD is supposed to be in nursery.
I'll be working in short bursts with support from CBeebies I think! And hoping the roof doesn't blow off.

traintraveller · 18/02/2022 09:20

I'd carry on as normal in an Amber zone

viques · 18/02/2022 09:25

Had plans to go to the Laura Knight exhibition, but cancelled because it would involve a lot of motorway driving. Hoping to rebook for Sunday ( the last day).

sallyslytherin · 18/02/2022 09:27

It would almost be easier if the storm was in full force here but at the moment it's bright sunshine and very low winds so seems a waste to stay home. All of the weather apps are saying it should be 40mph winds at this point but it definitely isn't. But very aware things could change quickly while we're out so not sure.

Wfh today as usual. Coffee at 3pm with SIL, the cafe is close by , 5 mins walk.
Night in.

Best to err on the side of caution IMO.

Sausagedogsarethebest · 18/02/2022 09:54

Surprised so far. They upgraded us to Red in South East from 10 am but I have partially blue skies, bit of wind and occasional spots of rain, but no sign of a big storm.....yet!

Creamegg84 · 18/02/2022 09:59

I'm in an Amber area. Wondering if the storm is actually going to happen because we've got bright blue skies, no wind and occasional light rain. We live in an area thats notoriously windy aswell yet we have no wind. Is it actually happening? Lol

Grasping · 18/02/2022 10:06

People keep going on about blue skies.

You do realise it can be sunny and windy right?

tinkywinkyshandbag · 18/02/2022 10:08

It's my DHs birthday (a big one!). We were meant to be having a day out and friends round for drinks tonight..,maybe not happening now!

MouseyMoose · 18/02/2022 10:13

We have tickets for a football match tonight, Amber area. If it isn't called off we will still be getting wrapped up and going, no wind here so far.

devildeepbluesea · 18/02/2022 10:15

Red zone, coastal area. It’s just started raining, and has been blowing a bit all morning. Not enough to cancel school IMO! DD is so bored she’s doing her homework.

sallyslytherin · 18/02/2022 10:54

@Grasping yes of course it can be sunny and windy but it isn't windy at all.

Absolutely prepared to take bad weather seriously but this devastating storm with dangerous winds just isn't happening here and by the forecast it should be well underway now.

Im staying in have done the housework and sending OH out for fish and chips tonight

cutebutstabby · 18/02/2022 12:37

I would stay in now if you can. I went for a very early walk to avoid the worst of it and am working from home now in my comfy PJs.

Giraffesandbottoms · 18/02/2022 12:52

Had several fun plans I had to cancel as in red area. 2 under 3 and pregnant - have done the classical baking and finger painting but it’s only 1pm and I’m exhausted and the tv is now officially on #friday 🤦🏻‍♀️
