To think bigger is not better?

I hate our new television. It’s huge. It’s ugly. The picture is dull & flat. I didn’t want it... Preferred our old telly!
Luckily, I rarely watch TV. But, now I never do! I like to put it on for my son to watch movies, etc...
DH watches his programmes, himself, at night. He won’t even consider looking at the settings...
AIBU to think - bigger is not better?

I hate ginormous TVs!!

I hate massive TVs so you're absolutely not being unreasonable!

EmbarrassedAllOver · 17/02/2022 19:35

That's what I thought until I got used to it. Now I love it.

Bigger, within reason, is better.

CrimbleCrumble1 · 17/02/2022 19:40

Bigger is better for me. I have a 60inch TV, we put the old 50inch we had in a smaller reception room. I’ve always found new TV’s take about a week to get used to.

@GroggyLegs

How huge is it?

Guy at work was boasting about his 80" telly (or something like that). How do you even watch it comfortably in a typical UK living room??

boasting about his 80" telly or something like that, heck I hope it is the telly he's referring to, my eyes read something totally different when I first read it Blush

No idea what size it is! A good bit bigger than the old one. Our sofa is fairly close to the TV, too. The living room’s not that big.

We have a projector that projects on to a wall. I love it, it means we aren't looking at an ugly telly when it's not on, but we have a big screen when we want it.

We have it at its smallest setting, so it's not too big for the room

I have a VR headset that I can watch Netflix and Amazon prime on and get a really big screen experience in a virtual living room or virtual cinema if I want.

That is bloody genius.

Disguise it as a lamp when you have visitors & you can be all pious & "Oh we don't have TV. We read and play family board games".

Without having to actually read, or play a family board game.

Ours is 19” and if we watch anything with subtitles or plot points that happen with characters looking at texts on their phone, one of us has to stand next to it to read it out to the other. Grin Slightly bigger would be better…
