Ending Covid isolation after negative LFT'S

So, I have Covid. Have been thru the (long) phone call to collect contact details etc. I thought I could leave isolation earlier than the full 10 days if I tested negative 2 days in a row after day 5.

Person on the test and trace said No, you can only leave isolation if you test negative on day 5 and day 6 only. If either test on day 5 or 6 is positive then you have to stay in for the full 10 days.

That's not what I've seen happening in real life. Everyone I know has taken the rules to mean that if you have 2 negative tests in a row between day 5 & day 10 and you can finish isolating.

So YANBU - of course you just need 2 consecutive negative LFT'S any day after day 5

YABU - rulez is rulez even if you test negative on day 7 & day 8 you must stay at home

If I tested negative 2 days in a row after 5 days I would leave isolation.

Perhaps they misunderstood what you was asking?

We have covid and I will be leaving isolation on any 2 negative days after day 5. I was positive on day 5 unfortunately :(

I had covid last week. The text message I received from Test and Trace was as follows: "The last day of your 10 day self isolation is 15th February (including this date). From day 5 (10th February) you can start taking lateral flow tests. If you have negative tests 2 days in a row, and you do not have a fever, you can end self-isolation after the second negative test. For example, if you have negative results on day 5 and 6, you can end self-isolation and stop testing on day 6." I tested negative on days 7 and 8 and left isolation on day 8 having reported both negatives on the Gov.UK website.

My husband is still testing a strong and instant positive on day 10, so isn't going anywhere yet (more's the pity - his cabin fever is insufferable).

My feeling is that they've gone for simplistic and consistent rules that don't feel very logical. He feels like crap, is still coughing and testing positive.

He can come out of isolation on day 11 regardless of what the negative LFT says.

That graphic is perfect! Yes it made no sense on the phone...I even said so if I test negative on day 7 & 8 I could finish isolating and she said no, you then have to isolate for the full 10 days. You only finish early if you test negative on day 5 and day 6. Which makes absolutely no sense...so I'm glad you guys are sanity checking for me before I start spouting the same nonsense in real life!!

When I called test and trace with a positive Covid test last Friday, I was told I didn't need to self isolate as I was fully vaccinatedHmm. The email that came after told me to isolate but the person on the phone gave very bad advice which was absolutely incorrect at the time. I'm not sure how good the training for them is tbh

Anyway enforced isolation for an infection is finishing soon I heard so it will be moot soon
