Feminist birth giver????

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 17/02/2022 11:26

Reading a thread on Facebook this morning in one of the groups I'm a member of. A member (she and I have a mutual friend) has said that she comes from a traditional family of a feminist birth giver and a father (and siblings).

It's entirely possible to be a mother and a feminist, so why yet another label?

AIBU to find this annoying?

@HeckyPeck

I would be tempted to reply and say that using the term father isn't very inclusive and suggest seed giver for future reference.
I prefer non-gestational parental unit. Or ejaculator.

Why can men keep their names and we be reduced to anatomy and function?

I can’t bear it anymore.

JoAnnewithanE · 17/02/2022 14:26

It's about corrosions and slowly removing women

aloris · 17/02/2022 14:27

"Why can men keep their names and we be reduced to anatomy and function?"

Because we're not really human beings. We're actually service units, made to serve the actual human beings (men). Try to keep up!

I'd be tempted to ask why the father isn't a feminist too.

I think its because we are the easier target and once they have erased us they will come for the men too.

this is all about Stonewall staying relevant in order to keep their money coming in they have to fight something all they are is a lobby group.

I came across an article on the Express website earlier that said "people with uteruses". Confused

Feminist birth giver????
makingitalladdup · 17/02/2022 22:46

Good grief! What does that even mean??

I find it so confusing. Why can't she call herself a mother? What is so awful about that? And who really, genuinely finds the word mother offensive or 'triggering' or excluding?

Please post back:

Fixed this for you -
Traditional family of a mother and a sperm supplier....
You're welcome!

CaroleFuckingBaskin · 17/02/2022 22:57

Sounds fucking ridiculous to me

DaisyWaldron · 17/02/2022 23:00

Plenty of mothers don't give birth, though. One of mine didn't.

334bu · 17/02/2022 23:10

Because erasing words like mother and woman when referring to female biology/ reproductive role has nothing to do with being inclusive of non binary female bodied people/ transmen , but rather about not excluding male bodied people , who identify as women. Men get to keep their names because males who identify as women are not interested in that. All about the patriarchy.

SuitcaseOfWhine · 18/02/2022 06:51

I am not against the use of pronouns and I believe people can identify how they want to, but don't tell me how I should identify myself. I am a woman and a mother and if anyone uses this phrase on me they will be corrected.

Just ask people how they would like to be identified before assuming. It's not that fucking hard.
