My house has single glazing and high ceilings, rooms are consistently 12-14 degrees. We try and only heat the rooms we use but it’s bloody miserable 😞

Rising energy prices are putting the fear of god into me!

Any genius ideas to keep warm?

I wear layers, blankets on the sofa etc.

Also have a young baby so it needs to be a reasonable temperature.

Op isn’t overdressing her baby.

You can see here that 16 degrees is really the lowest recommended temperature, and that it’s long vest, sleepsuit, socks and winter weight thick sleeping bag. Poor thing would be frozen without a sleeping bag or blanket!

At 16 it’s right on the edge of being a bit too cold. Rather than long sleep sleeping bag, it’s better that add cardigan and then normal sleeping bag

Thank you @Caspianberg

The room should be warmer than 16 degrees - probably about 20C, and no more than two layers of clothing.

The problem with too many layers is overheating, which is worse than being a bit on the cold side. It's a factor in SIDS.

She only has 2 layers of clothing then a sleeping bag.

I’m following the safe sleeping guidance.

Oh FFS. Only two layers!?
Room warmer than 16c!?
No this is completely wrong and unnecessary.
Our bedroom drops to 14c .
My baby is absolutely fine in a long sleeve vest, sleepsuit and 2.5 tog bag
They can move in a bag.
I'm not heating the room over night when you can add more layers

jupitermars1345 · 20/02/2022 14:17

OP what you are dressing her in sounds about right for me for the room temperature

Great tips here - thanks. Thermal under layers to wear can help - M&S and Asda do them and if you can get to a Uniqlo, people speak highly of those too.
