Dog and remote control model plane - who was being unreasonable?

This is something I witnessed and wasn't involved in - at a distance it was quite amusing - but who (if anyone) was bu?

In a large recreation field, lots of families were out on New Year's Day clearly trying out Christmas presents - rollerblades, bikes - and two separate families with those quite large remote-control model planes.

It's also a popular area for people to exercise dogs, and there's nothing to say dogs need to be on leads (but there are signs warning about prosecution for dog fouling, and signs in the surrounding streets about dogs having to be on leads).

One of the model planes got stuck in a tree, then the second one plummetted to the ground, to be retrieved by an enthusiastic Golder Retriever (from another family)..the dog looked as though it was then chewing it.

Model plane owner starts shouting at dog owner that dog should be on a lead. We didn't see the plane fly again..presume it was broken, family trudge off carrying plane.

(In the meantime model plane family 1 are still trying to retrieve plane from tree by chucking sticks at it etc).

I must admit I don't personally like the these planes flying around in busy public areas...lots of them seem to crash, potentially on a person.

Not sure what I would have done if our dog (who wasn't with us) had "retrieved" the plane...the crash was probably just as likely to have stopped it working as the dog.

I don't think anyone was being unreasonable. If the dogs don't have to be on a lead then no-one is to blame... its just one of those things. HOWEVER, if it was my dog I'd have hoped it would listen if I told it to drop something.

We get those kites things that can carry people on skate boards (but bigger) in our park. The dog LOVED them! and the kids on mini motor bikes and the polo match.

The dog probably did the plane flyer a favour I mean how often are they going to use it after christmas? At least this way they could probably claim on their insurance.

Model plane owner was unreasonable to shout, and unreasonable to say dog should be on the lead when it's a known area for dogs to be walked off lead.

Dog owner should have kept dog under closer control though. I would have told my dog to "LEAVE IT!!!" and she would not have picked it up in the first place [smug].

This is why Father Christmas refused to buy ds2 a remote control plane. They fly, they die. If it wasn't the golden retriever today it would have been the river or a tree tomorow.
