I've literally rejoined mumsnet to post this. In AIBU. Without an AIBU. Shameless I know but I've gone Google blind trying to solve this myself so I need the wise owls of mumsnet to help me.

In May we plan to go away for our significant wedding anniversary. We need to bring the kids (definitely can't leave them with anyone unfortunately and think it'll be nice to have them there anyway!) Age 6 months (at that time) and 5 years. Both easy going well behaved children (assuming the baby stays as he is!)

We want to go for a long weekend somewhere where there is lots to do and need recommendations of somewhere to stay - we want somewhere nice and different rather than just a travelodge etc as its a special treat. We were thinking a farm or zoo etc with lodges but we won't do camping or yurts etc.

Give me some ideas please!! Thank you

Iooked here yesterday - absolute fortune but looks great!!!!

Tapnell farm on the Isle of Wight, beautiful location and so much for kids to do. DD still talks about the bouncy pillows all the time! Can also easily be combined with a visit to Paultons Park, recommend Room 2 in Southampton if so.

Sandy balls in the new forest is great! Took DDs last summer and we’re going again this year! Look at away resorts as I’ve always found them good
Love sandy balls especially the name Grin we have been there lots already otherwise we'd consider it thanks.

I second the Luxury Family Hotels recommendation. They're not cheap but they're a lovely treat!

hiraffe · 20/02/2022 09:34

How old are they? the Moonfleet Manor group is good

hiraffe · 20/02/2022 09:34

Port Lympne - same

this is on my list

5 years and 6 months when we go.
hiraffe · 20/02/2022 09:40

That's a good age for those hotels.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 20/02/2022 11:12

Port Lyme is fantastic but costly and the baby will remember nothing, your 5 yr old will be too little to do any of the feed the giraffe type activities.

I recommend Jersey if you can bear a flight or a ferry trip. Ditto with La Touquet which is 20 mins drive from Eurotunnel in Calais.

The Suffolk Coast is lovely for families - somewhere like The Swan in Southwold? Or Ickworth Hotel in Bury St Edmonds. They have lovely big rooms or family apartments and there's lots to do in the estate as well as both a national trust cafe and a hotel restaurant.

Lime Wood Hotel in Hampshire is supposed to be vairy nice but pricey.

Cotswold Farm Park do lovely lodges with wood fired hot tub. Free entry in to the farm park which has load to do for younger children.

We have family in Suffolk so will save those ideas for when we next visit them to try and avoid another Premier inn!

As for going abroad, will consider that for the summer thank you.
