NC for this

Ahhhhh I have drinks on Friday this week and I have no idea what to wear. It’s just casual after work drinks with colleagues; all women, all seem really nice, we all wfh but they’re a bit younger than me and all seem stylish on zoom calls etc ( and I haven’t met any of them yet in person)

I’ve recently lost a lot of weight and I’m trying to get out the rut I was in. I have NO IDEA what to wear. I’m now a size 16 (was 24)

I was thinking skinny jeans, a stripy top and white trainers? Not comfy in heels really but I just have no clue what to wear to feel good or look good.

All help gratefully received!

I am 50 and own trainers for gym wearing only.
Can't imagine leaving the house in a pair otherwise!

I'd go for a) comfort and b) remembering that it's just casual drinks in a pub! Have you been to this pub before? If not, maybe have a look on fb & tripadvisor to see what other people dress like when they go? What you've suggested sounds pretty much fine to me! I'd maybe go for a nice slightly fitted jumper as that's slightly more 'dressy' and more people will be looking at your top half than your feet, but there's nothing wrong with trainers at all. DP's in his 50s and wears jeans & converse constantly.

Don't overthink it, but DO enjoy it.

Thank you so much to everyone who responded. It’s quite a casual pub going by their Instagram (great idea to look them up by the way!)

Also trainers work better for me as I have a fairly long journey home (tube/train/2 mile walk)

Thanks again!

I’m 52, work in a supposedly ‘young’ industry and I’d say the majority of people I socialise with wear trainers. I’ve got about 20 pairs and I’d say 5 of them were ‘gym only’. The rest aren’t even designed for working out. Big soles, flatforms, Skater-Boy style - many different designs to be worn anywhere. Been to a few Michelin restaurants in them too.

Outfit sounds grand OP.

Well it depends how much you care about looking fashionable?

Skinnies, stripey top, blouse none of them are very on trend but it doesn't really matter - just wear something you feel nice in and do nice hair and makeup. That's mainly all you see in a pub anyway if you're sitting down.

I would say yes to trainers - everyone wears these now
