Not aibu but not sure where to post

Just wondering what peoples hobbies are??

I'm trying to find new a new hobby for myself or one that I can do with my teenagers to get them into a hobby. We've kind of lost touch of things since lockdown and I'm struggling to motivate them to do things and to be honest struggling to motivate myself to get out there

Any ideas would be appreciated

Theme parks!! We spend the off season (Christmas to now) planning our trips including hopefully some european trips this year then every weekend snd school holidays theme parking. It’s not for everyone but it definitely keeps me involved with my teens.

In no particular order: Running, walking, gardening, climbing, cross stitch & embroidery, painting, knitting, crotchet, cooking/ baking, gaming & reading. Also occasionally sitting in a quiet room Grin I do different things depending on my mood.

Walking. People seem obsessed with running and I'm not really sure why, other than maybe they feel you get more kudos from saying you go running. (I do run occasionally but for fitness, not because it's fun)

I walk a huge amount, for pleasure and fitness. We go together as a couple or just on my own plugged in to a podcast. It's free, so long as you already own some comfortable footwear and you can take in so much more than if you're trying to complete a run. Despite popular belief, it is also possible to walk in rain Wink

If you enjoy the outdoors -

Geocaching - it's free or about 50p a week to become a premium member. If you love in an area with lots of hides it can keep you occupied for hours. Plus the benefit of getting outdoors and walking. In lots of areas there are groups who meet up for social events and litter picks.

Sea glass collecting. Again, lots of time in the fresh air. Once you have collected it you can make some lovely crafts of jewellery. Lots and lots of Facebook and YouTube ideas.

Thank you for your suggestions, going to look into some of the ideas

Climbing is a good one to do with teeneagers. Get a training session booked for you all at you nearest climbing wall (climbing better/more collaborative than bouldering) and see what you all think.

I own horses but they are in such little work at the moment I’d not say my hobby is horse riding I’d say it’s owning lawnmowers!

We have gym equipment and often work out at similar times, my job is quite physical so l do less than my two teen sons, but we also go out walking and cycling. Younger son 16 is reptile mad and that is something that has bonded us also, we rehomed a cornsnake from someone moving abroad several years ago and we also have a bearded dragon that l have become very attached to and is like another member of the family, l never imagined myself getting so attached.
l did find the earlier teenage years abit boring being honest, they were very much into their PCs, gaming ,etc but more active and outdoorsy now.

Shannith · 15/02/2022 16:17

Riding (horses), yoga (to fix the injury's caused by riding horses), crosswords, gardening, baking, finding treasure in charity shops.

The latest is a great hobby - person who finds the most valuable thing for the least money. Google photos>> Google lens is your secret weapon. And heavy things. Antiques tend to be heavy.
