To expect house guests to flush a toilet after use?

I'm sure I will be berated as its MIL, but would you expect someone that uses your toilet to flush and wash their hands after use, and also wonder why a women hasn't used toilet paper? MIL is British, barely been abroad, so its not a cultural thing that I'm aware of. We are renovating, so living in a tiny caravan- so even by staying outside when she uses the loo, its very obvious she hasn't flushed or washed hands Confused
Thoughts?

It’s absolutely fine to choose to save water by not flushing your own toilet after you’ve had a wee (not something I practise though!) but surely it is common courtesy to flush toilets outside of your own home every time you use them? Nobody wants to look at or smell your wee or poo!

I am constantly amazed by the state that toilets are regularly left in though. I don’t know how people do it.

@WallpaperWonder

To be fair to her, if she didn't use toilet paper or flush she doesn't really need to wash her hands.

She absolutely should.

Could she be in there doing something else? Checking period pads or similar? If not then definitely needs to be hand washing! We have a no flush at night rule for wees as it backs onto bedrooms and wakes us up

Thanks for the replies. To answer some questions:

  • its a tiny, static caravan which is plumbed into mains water and mains sewer- which MIL is aware of- no septic tank or travel potty to worry about using loo roll in
  • I doubt she is checking 'period pants' as she is 74 Confused

-It was daylight, so not the middle of night and trying not to wake others!

  • We have no toilet paper shortage
  • I have a bar of soap and liquid hand wash in the loo, along with alcohol gel at the front door, so she had a choice if she DID want to cleanse her hands

Maybe she wears pads so doesn't touch anything but her clothes.
