Aibu to stop Ttc because of a holiday?

I’ve just realised if we Ttc this month this we’ll be due four days before we are due to go on holiday! Has anyone stopped to not miss something or just carry on?
I’m nearly 40 so not really got much time to play with
But really looking forward to my holidays this year , as haven’t been anywhere for two years and covid! I think I will carry on Ttc regardless as if it’s meant to be! It’ll be!! And the drive for another is too strong , but I’m just interested in if others ever considered this.
Also interested in how soon after a baby is going away a possibility! I know everyone is different but has anyone gone away say less than two weeks after having a baby for a uk holiday? As also got other mini breaks to see and visit friends and family for the end of this and start of next year!
Thanks

You don’t have time to play around with so I would just keep trying. If you conceive then you’ll have other things on your mind…

Av0bo55 · 14/02/2022 06:32

Yes that’s what I’m thinking! I have too much time on my mind at the moment and slightly depressed! Just don’t like the thought of missing out on anything else! Life though!

I timed it so I wouldn't be pregnant for xmas, was impossible to fix it to avoid my birthday though, unless I conceived in January. It can be done.

Mumdiva99 · 14/02/2022 06:38

I'm pretty sure if it were to happen come the time you wouldn't feel you were missing out.

As you can go over by 2 weeks that feels s little close for a holiday. I think for me around 6 weeks if there was enough space in the accommodation for me to be up at night without disturbing others. And enough stuff for my oh to do with the kids on his own if I wanted to nap with new baby.

Less that two weeks after a baby might be a bit soon. You may have only just had it if you were over due.
However one small baby is very easy to transport and I went out for a couple of meals a week when ds was tiny because he’d just sleep and I went away quite a bit but not until he was 3 months. Birth was a bit rough though so took some recovering from

I think at 40 you need to prioritise TTC and work around any holidays when you get to that point. With airline rules you won't be able to fly there or back past 36ish weeks so if you rule out this month you'd have to rule out next month too if you were set on having this holiday. Even then pregnancies are unpredictable and you don't know how fit you will be to fly at any point.

Going away even in the UK less than 2 weeks after birth is very early! You need to consider your own recovery from the birth and also think about the fact that a newborn shouldn't be in a car seat for any longer than 30 minutes at a time. Unless you're planning on going somewhere fairly close that could be a lot of stops and faffing about. And how much then are you going to enjoy a trip away when you're in a haze of newborn sleeplessness?

Start TTC and see how things go. Hopefully you get pregnant quickly and everything goes smoothly. Then you can see how you feel. You can always rearrange trips to see family and friends and get them to come and visit you after birth instead of doing the travelling yourself.

Duracellbunnywannabe · 14/02/2022 06:57

At your age I wouldn’t be putting off TTC.

ShoesEverywhere · 14/02/2022 07:05

Newborns are only meant to spend 20/30 mins at a time in s car seat. I'd do if by train, but I once did a 3 hour journey with a newborn (and toddler) by car and the amount of breaks was just insane.

Also - my second baby was two weeks overdue and you'd need to be home for weighings, five day heel prick test etc. And you'll probably still be bleeding and leaking milk and possibly recovering from a tear or a c section.

I wouldn't do it, but I'm due to go camping near me at 39 weeks and have a number of trips booked from 31-36 weeks. I'd do that instead!

bonetiredwithtwins · 14/02/2022 07:06

Sounds like it isn't your first baby? In which case I would skip a month too - not just you who will be disappointed if you can't go if you have kids looking forward to it too

HomeHomeInTheRange · 14/02/2022 07:37

We went on a UK holiday when Dc1 was 2 weeks old.

I was OK, easy because I was breastfeeding, we stayed in a hotel but it would have been even easier self catering.

No guarantees though.

Jinglebellsoncake · 14/02/2022 07:38

Id skip 2 months of TTC 😀

Penvelopey · 14/02/2022 07:39

I'd keep going and cancel the holiday if you do have a baby.

stuntbubbles · 14/02/2022 07:45

I paused TTC last summer as we were DIY renovating and I knew if I were to get pregnant I wouldn’t be able to do the work (previous pregnancy I got horrendously ill) and it needed doing so we could sell. Still not pregnant now at 40 and deeply regret not just ploughing on! We’d have managed somehow, just as if you get pregnant you can change a holiday to land in second trimester, or plan a family holiday for when the baby’s older.

Nothing and no one will stop me TTC each month now, the clock is truly ticking!

JustWonderingIfYou · 14/02/2022 07:56

I think most would struggle with a holiday with a 2 week old.

You wouldn't have a passport for baby to go abroad and they can only be on a car seat 30 mins for UK holiday.

Also it just wouldn't be much of a holiday, you'd be trying to establish feeding still and possibly a bit sore depending on birth. Most women want their home comforts at that phase and to be settling baby at home.

Thanks everyone
I think it’s more my older children missing out on more, that makes me sad and hesitant ,
but I know my age and time against me ,so I think I’ll just carry on and if it happens, we will work it out!
