To ask for Ninja advice

AIBU to buy an air fryer when I actually know very little about them other than the fact that once people have one, they claim to never use their oven again?

Torn between the Duel Zone Air Fryer or Health Grill & Air Fryer.

Also, can you reheat things like bolognese in it? Or other things you've batch cooked?

Will be watching this thread with interest. Bought a Ninja Foodie yesterday hoping to cut down on putting the oven on for three fish fingers etc.
Haven’t been brave enough to take it out of the box yet, but hoping to get advice and inspiration here.

We just bought the Ninja 10 in 1 as we’ve decided to turn our Aga off as it was costing a small fortune in electricity. It’s been brilliant so far. Love how quickly it heats up and all the different functions. It’s big enough to cook for a family of 4 and does everything that a normal oven does. I’m a convert.

I have the xl grill and health fryer. I wouldn't use it to reheat things. I used it this morning for a fry up; sausages, bacon, tomatoes and hash browns. It's great for grilling and roasting as well. If I had the space I'd get the 15 in 1. I use it at least 5 times per week

NannyR · 13/02/2022 15:23

I reheat things like macaroni cheese, lasagne, pizza etc - things that benefit from being a bit crispy. It would probably be quicker to reheat spag bol in the microwave.

Never regretted buying a ninja. They're excellent

I've got the 9 in 1 and the foodi max grill and never use my oven, the 9 in 1 is great for pressure cooking or making stews and curries, you can fry everything in there first then add your sauce and heat it all up together.
I use the grill for things like fish fingers, oven chips, pies, Yorkshire puddings, it also makes lovely toad in the hole.

It cooks much faster than an oven and can occasionally dry food a bit so I wrap things like pies in tin foil.

I did once do a whole chicken in the 9 in 1 and it wasn't cooked through, I need to try again but put it in for longer, there's a Facebook group too and people regularly post their recipes.

You do need to be careful getting things out of the 9 in 1 because it's so easy to catch your arm on the side and get a nasty burn, also known amongst owners as a "ninjury"Grin

If you're on Facebook the Ninja warriors group is very helpful on questions like this.

I have the foodie myself and it has definitely massively reduced oven usage (although could never entirely replace it).

Me too! Looks like I didn't need to dig out my throwing stars after all!
otherwiseitllbeboris · 13/02/2022 15:42

I am selling my ninja as I found other than the air fryer function, I don't use the other functions and I need something with a larger capacity.

hauntedvagina · 13/02/2022 15:43

I've ordered the Duel!

I also opened this thread expecting something much more exciting.. 😂

I love my Ninja. I cannot believe how powerful it is. however, that has got me thinking regarding electricity consumption. I'm not sure how it compares to my trusty gas over which is four times cheaper and (at least) four times slower to run

Justilou1 · 13/02/2022 15:50

I have the Duel and rarely use my oven. I love that I can cook two things at once. I’m not really a baker or a fryer. It comes in bloody handy for “forgotten” bits in meals and makes impressively crispy potatoes!

hauntedvagina · 13/02/2022 15:53

Can you buy racks for it? Do you need racks for it? So if I was doing chips, do I just chuck them in or do they need to be in even layers?

Me too. I have already had slow cookers and I know that soupy, mushy result stays consistently the same regardless of brand so I wasn't tempted to purchase a Ninja with that function. I still have a separate slow cooker which gets limited use but it is not a wonder appliance like the Ninja Foodi. I have never been a 'fryer' but I am definitely keen on airfrying mock junk food now and again!
