to seek medical advice for this?

Woke up 2 days ago with what I think was a boil down below, it has been incredibly painful to sit and walk for the past 2 days, stinging constantly and quite a swollen radius around it.

I’ve woken up and it seems to have popped, there was blood everywhere, it seeped down the toilet like it does when you’re on your period and just smelt absolutely horrendous.

I’m 31 weeks pregnant and am aware that you’re more prone to infection during this time.
Ive showered after this and applied sudocreme.

Wibu seeking medical assistance for this today or do you think it’s not needed?
Thanks.

yes

littlesnowdropfairy · 13/02/2022 07:04

Definitely no harm to get it checked @Staryflight445 I would if I were you.

sheepisheep · 13/02/2022 07:19

Yes, please contact your maternity assessment unit today

Staryflight445 · 13/02/2022 07:42

Maternity assessment? @sheepisheep I’m rh- so have had to be rather careful and make sure 100% the bleeding is coming from said boil and not my actual vaginal area.

Yes. Today.

slashlover · 13/02/2022 07:46

Could it be a Bartholin's cyst? I had one before, it was agony until it popped.

LefttoherownDevizes · 13/02/2022 07:46

If you're rh- definitely maternity then. But they're the easiest way to get any care tbh

Poor you, sounds awful

Staryflight445 · 13/02/2022 07:49

I’m not sure? It was a lot bigger than what google describes that as @slashlover, my husband said last night it was still under the skin.
However now it’s leaked whatever has come out, the constant stinging has subsided and it does feel a lot better.

Why isn’t there a manual of how to properly deal with things like this 😅

Sudacream is not antiseptic? I think you will need something antiseptic?

VikingLundyMalin · 13/02/2022 08:02

You need to be seen and get it checked out - the Doctor or Midwife will advise on the most appropriate treatment.

She’s needs a doctor not an antiseptic.
ittakes2 · 13/02/2022 08:03

I think you need antibiotics - these sorts of things are at risk of infection ie the pressure before and during the bursting process could have shot bacteria into the surrounding tissue.

ittakes2 · 13/02/2022 08:04

VikingLundyMalin I know - but while waiting for a doctor it makes sense to apply something more usefu!

84wood · 13/02/2022 08:07

It’s probably fine but because you’re pregnant and seek medical advice just in case.

Staryflight445 · 13/02/2022 08:13

I’m going to ring soon, i think asking if I need antibiotics is the safest bet.
Just such a hassle on a Sunday to seek assistance

The fact that it smelt awful is a definite reason to get it checked.

AmbushedByCake · 13/02/2022 08:15

It sounds like you have an abscess which burst. You should have sought advice days ago really, they can turn nasty. Hope all is OK.

ImAnOmelette · 13/02/2022 08:19

I had abscess with DS2 that kept refilling and needed ABs to get rid of it. I think you could see your GP.

Staryflight445 · 13/02/2022 08:28

All is ok, the swelling has really subsided. Husband just checked and said it looks much better than it did last night, I just need to make sure I don’t need antibiotics.
Thanks all!
