AIBU to work at my daughter’s school

So here goes. My daughter is in year 7 at our village comp where I also work as a cover supervisor (we started st same time). I love my job, the team and the kids. Sure there’s the odd tricky lesson but on the whole it’s great. I took the job there as it’s paying £200 per month more than my last school which is a lot for me as a single mum and I have no travel costs so makes a huge difference.
However, my DD is now refusing to be seen in public with me because everyone hates me ( I know that’s not true) and is being really rude and argumentative. I truly don’t know what to do? Any ideas? I’m struggling to make the best life I can for her and her sister. AIBU by working at the local school?

@TowandaForever

I went to the primary schools one of my parents taught at. Absolutely hated it. Would not do this to my child if there were other options.
We both at one time were teaching in the same school as our daughters. It didn't cause problems, there were other parent/child combos too as it was a military school, the youngest walked past my room every day on her way to an early Infants' lunch, apparently she would be chattering away until 5m before my room, clam up, head down then carry on! Your daughter will have to accept the situation or it'll be a long, miserable 5 years for her!

I don't think you can expect her to be happy with her mother working in the same school as her.

But if you need to work, you need to work.

I would attempt to find ways for her to make friends outside of school, and probably try to take things easier on the kids in her year.

And of course, I'd always keep in mind how difficult it must be for her.

I think it can work at primary. But at secondary I think you have to have a very tough skin if your parent works there and is disliked. If she’s telling you you’re disliked by the kids that could be true. We had a teacher at our school who was loathed by all the kids - even the ones who didn’t have him for the subject. He just wasn’t very nice. And his daughter went to our school. I felt so sorry for her. She quickly developed a bit of an ‘I’m a bitch and I’ll make your life hell if you bother me’ persona but I think she had to otherwise kids would have made her life a living hell.
