Strawberry Dream is no more ☹️

Just after tucking into an early Valentine's gift ( to myself!)....a box of Cadbury Milk Tray, and am absolutely disgusted that the strawberry chocolate is no more!! How can they get away with this....it's been my favourite since I was a child. And even better, no one else ever likes it so was always left to me! AIBU to be so disappointed that I can no longer enjoy my Strawberry Dream!

Wtf?

I loved my calpol themed strawberry sweets. I always got a kick out of being the only one who wanted them too.

Featuredcreature · 11/02/2022 21:34

Did you say the caramel barrel was gone? Sad

Featuredcreature · 11/02/2022 21:34

RIP galaxy truffle too

scrivette · 11/02/2022 21:38

MIL was most upset when the box she got for Christmas didn't have any of her favourites in.

Where have all the coffee cremes/coffee flavoured chocolates gone? I went into Hotel Chocolat at the weekend for some (as my DM had bought me some for Christmas) and was informed they no longer do them.

@Fuckityfucksake

We had some at Christmas and they were vile. Taste nothing like they used to. Sorry they took away you fav OP Everywhere removed mine ages ago - I'm a coffee cream lover :)
You need Whittaker’s in your life. British, palm free, fair trade and they do catering size tubs of coffee creams.(and rose, Violet,orange,ginger and strawberry) www.whitakerschocolates.com/?gclid=Cj0KCQiAr5iQBhCsARIsAPcwROP1mOWhISdhdxx5fIVTmbPcf1eMIpWQMUXVs8fdWId1nkMozOGUBQ4aArEHEALw_wcB

@amillionrosepetals

I felt the same when they ditched the coffee cream. Coffee is such a popular drink so how can people not like coffee creams?
I love a coffee cream On my birthday dh bought chocolates from a chocolatier for me. The server was going to give him a random selection and he told her no, there must be coffee creams in abundance.
InexperiencedDogOwner · 11/02/2022 22:08

@OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow wow that coffee collection looks amazing and good prices too. My waistline will not thank me but wtf

grannysbay · 11/02/2022 22:09

Whitakers are great - love the ginger. Beeches are also good - but the creams rather than the fondants. Link is to milk, but they also do plain

@AnSionnachGlic

Think they replaced it with some raspberry truffle thing , which is NOT a replacement! And while I'm on it...what's with all these truffle/solid chocolates! I loved to bite into a strawberry delight and have lovely , pink liquid oozing out. A close second was the orange fondant/liquid chocolate, which has been replaced by a truffle sort concoction,... followed by runny Caramel barrell. ALL GONE.....Not impressed 😡
Nooooooooooo. Not the caramel barrel.
TheLeadbetterLife · 11/02/2022 22:17

All Cadbury chocolate is shite now, as are quality street. Such a shame.

Try Guilbert’s of Bristol. Their assortments are fantastic, just like old style Quality Street / milk tray, but far better quality. They’re expensive by comparison, but worth it. I get them for a Christmas treat.

kizzywizz · 11/02/2022 22:36

I'm still lamenting the loss of the lime barrel from 1970's milk tray, best chocolate ever.

fairlygoodmother · 11/02/2022 22:40

@ComtesseDeSpair

I just bought strawberries and cream flavour cheddar from Aldi. That might be your new favourite?
Please let this be a typo?

I agree entirely. I’m probably remembering through rose-tinted specs (not Cadbury’s Roses), but Milk Tray, Dairy Box etc. seem so bland compared to when I was a child. Everything is a truffle or a praline.

My rule as a child was: toffees/caramels and fruit cremes on Christmas Day, truffly and nutty ones on Boxing Day, nougat and montelimar on 27 December and, if I got desperate on 28 December, I’d pick the chocolate off a coffee cream and squish the filling into an empty wrapper.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks of them as Calpol Cremes!
AnSionnachGlic · 11/02/2022 23:49

Am totally open to some replacements for my Milk Tray Strawberry chocolates, but live in West of Ireland, so don't have access to Whitakers or Gilbert's without paying huge excise duties ( Thanks Brexit!).

I can't believe I've read this just before bedtime. It has ruined my weekend! Who - literally who, would take out the strawberry cream? It's an outrage!!!

Iwantmyoldnameback · 12/02/2022 00:00

Another fan of lime barrell. I remember when they actually did a milk tray bar, oh that was a real treat. Didn't have to share that.

PrancingQueen · 12/02/2022 00:03

YABU to eat Milk Tray.
Cadburys is shit these days, too sweet and full of palm oil 🤢
Used to love the coffee creams though, back in the day!

mustlovegin · 12/02/2022 00:23

I felt the same when they ditched the Turkish delight. It was my favourite

ALDI have a great Turkish delight chocolate

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 12/02/2022 00:41

Creme tangerine, montelimar. But you'll have to have them all pulled out after the Savoy truffle.

Recommended on Mumsnet a while back.

Not cheap (they supply Fortnum & Mason) but totally delicious. They do strawberry, raspberry, orange, coffee, lemon, apricot, lime, nuts, caramel etc.

SweetPotatoDumpling · 12/02/2022 06:53

This makes me SO HAPPY 🙌🏼 They completely ruin the whole tray OP 🤷‍♀️

Goatinthegarden · 12/02/2022 07:12

I was given a couple of boxes of Cadbury’s Milk Tray at Christmas and just couldn’t eat them. I’m not a chocolate snob and I’ve gladly eaten them in the past. Something has changed. They were sickly sweet and just a bit grim.

I ate half a bag of Cadbury’s mini eggs on the sofa last night and they were totally fine.

Yes, I remember the Milk Tray bar. They also used to do a Milk Tray easter egg but I think they only sold it in Woolworths. Happy days.
