So I popped into the phone shop and the only assistant in sight was sitting at the desk talking to a female customer whilst constantly twirling his beard. It was super weird and I promptly left. AIBU or should beard twiddling a bit erm sexual? He wasn't doing it for me but was he signalling the customer, like female hair twirling ?

Or maybe he just twirls his beard through habit? He probably wasn't even aware he was doing it.

sadpapercourtesan · 11/02/2022 17:36

Well, I think we need to know more. Was he fiddling absent-mindedly with it? Or was he caressing it, while running his tongue over his lower lip and giving her Bette Davis eyes?

Come on, OP. Don't be a bell-end Grin

This is lighthearted right?

NoneOfYour32Potatoes · 11/02/2022 17:40

Whaaaaa

AdhdFridaysss · 11/02/2022 17:40

I'm always pulling on my hair and fiddling with my eyebrows and it's not sexual. Mainly an ADHD symptom. But my mom always said I 'looked like a bimbo' when I touched my hair so I try not to!

Maybe he has ADHD and needs told his beard twiddling is far, far too sexual for the public Grin

WindyState · 11/02/2022 17:41

Yes, he definately was signalling the customer.

I bet as soon as you left they were at it next to the Galaxy S21s like rabbits.

takingmytimeonmyride · 11/02/2022 17:42

Is hair twirling a signal? Shit! I do it. What secret signals have I been giving out without knowing? I'm autistic and it's a sign of stress for me.

underneaththeash · 11/02/2022 17:42

As long as it's not a pubic beard he was twiddling that's fine.

AdhdFridaysss · 11/02/2022 17:42

Can't think of anywhere sexier than the phone shop tbh

I was thinking that someone was twiddling with someone else's beard, which would be a bit weird, but no, fiddling with your own beard is fine. I wouldn't even have noticed it tbh. I fiddle with my own hair, my earrings and my own facial fuzz thanks pcos all the time without realising and I'm defo not flirting with anyone!

Furrydogmum · 11/02/2022 18:24

Dunno.. But my son absent mindedly twiddles his into peak/horns and he looks like a wally when he forgets and goes out with it like that!

Undecicive · 11/02/2022 19:24

There's nothing sexual about beard twiddling.
(Or beards, generally, for me.)

LivingNextDoorToNorma · 11/02/2022 19:26

I’ve been playing with/twiddling my hair since I was toddler. It’s definitely not sexual.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 11/02/2022 19:27

Isn't it just habit? DH does it all the time - he doesn't even realise.

Random789 · 11/02/2022 19:29

Beard twiddling is not sexual. I'm more sure about this than I have been about anything else my whole life.

JudgeJ · 11/02/2022 19:51

That was my first thought!

I would think of it as the opposite of sexual, more like a repellent.

XenoBitch · 11/02/2022 20:46

YABU, it was his beard, not his penis.
Maybe he was anxious and this was a way of self soothing.

Sofiegiraffe · 11/02/2022 20:48

What? Confused

iwantmyownicecreamvan · 11/02/2022 20:51

OMG I have always twiddled my hair - god knows what people must have thought over the years.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 11/02/2022 20:53

Eh? I twiddle my hair all the time because I can't help it. Do people think it's a flirty thing??
