Mat pay

Have asked to see my company's mat leave policy. Have a couple friends who work here and have been on mat leave and when I asked them before joining they said it was pretty good - ( 18 weeks at 90%). Now I've got a copy of the policy but it states you need to have been working here for 2.5 years before going on mat leave in order to qualify for the enhanced pay. Obvs will get statutory pay regardless. Does anyone else think this is massively out of touch?! Most friends I've asked and places I've worked you needed to work for a year before you qualify. I'm feeling a bit stressed now!

Yes - 2.5 years is fine, get back in line
No - that's far too long to ask anyone to work there before qualifying for mat pay

I'm confused, is it full pay for 5 months then 90% for 18 weeks?

That's a really good rate. my work tops us up to half pay for weeks 6-18 then if you leave before 13 weeks after returning you have to pay it back.

My previous workplace was 3 years at date of baby's arrival to get 3 months full pay.

A policy set by men.

My new workplace its 12 months to get 3 months full pay and 3 months half pay.

A policy set by women.

Sorry @pikapikapukachu it's 90% pay for 18 weeks as per my first post. Sorry for confusion.

Each company sets their own rules about salaries and perks. Entirely up to them, no Aibu/ainbu about it.,

Everyone who starts and meets their objectives will be at manager level within 3 years. We also recruit at manager level. I genuinely don’t think it’s unfair.

Many employees outside only get statutory anyway.

When I first went on maternity pay, I had been with the business just under 18 months. I had 6 months full pay + 3 months 75% pay + 3 months 50% pay. There was no clawback. And I didn’t go back…
