To think we should have a fob by now

Work in a job through an agency, as do several others there, we're on long-term placements.
In order to access the main rooms and the toilets an entry fob is required. None of the agency staff including me have ever been given a fob, even though we've been there for months in some cases, meaning that anytime we want to enter the main rooms or go to the toilet we have to wait for permanent staff to let us in and out, and sometimes you're waiting a while as there isn't anybody around and no buzzer etc to press.

Aibu to think they could have given us fobs, there are only 3 of us. If we were just there for the day ok but it's just a bit frustrating now. Apparently someone asked and they said they can't so there's no point me asking too

So frustrating!!

It might invalidate their insurance though, to give fobs to people who aren't employees. I'm sure they're not doing it for fun. It might be worth seeing if they can make one set of toilets be within the area you're in. resetting the zones on the security circuit - not moving the toilets!

That's very true I didn't think of that. You can spend almost 10 minutes of your break waiting to be let in/out and it's only 30 minute break in 9 hours so very annoying

Be really annoying every time. They'll think of a solution quickly. Could you ring someone everytime you want to get in or is it a no phones place?

You need to get the agency to sort it out on your behalf. You have to have access to toilets, having to wait for access and potentially not being able to get there when you need is unacceptable. Also if your break is being taken up waiting for access that is not on. If they are not helpful find out who is responsible for health and safety in the workplace, I would be developing a vague “bladder condition” right about now that they need to accommodate.

We have to put our phones in the Manager's office due to safeguarding, but I will definitely have a word with my agency

They are in breach of the agency worker regulations. You have some rights from day 1 and some from 12 weeks. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/841981/agency-workers-regulations-2010-guidance.pdf

I would ask again in writing pointing out you are entitled to access facilities on the same basis as employees from day 1. Also email your agency asking them to intervene.

Our company was using a Wework-type place for a while between office moves.

Anyone not permanently working there couldn't have an access control card. Meant that going out to the toilet was easy, but coming back needed a card so we either had to borrow one (not officially)for wait.

Not a pleasant or comfortable way to do things.

If you work there all the time I can't see any issue with you being given a fob. Even it was was set up so your schedule meant you could only suing during your daily working hours. Shouldn't be anything to do with insurance as your already bloody work there.

could only use during...... not suing
