To feel a teensy bit peeved with my sister.....

for not wearing the watch we bought her for her birthday. It was her 21st and we wanted to get her something special; dh and I spent ages choosing a watch (we hoped) she would like. I've seen her a few times since giving the gift and there's no sign of her wearing it yet.

Yes I know its not really her fault if she doesn't like it, but I did give her a gift receipt and I told her that she should def go and choose another style if she wasn't keen, and that I was cool with that.

She is very lovely and sweet, but I can't help feeling a little cheesed off that we spent a lot of money (for us), and it might just sit in it's box forevermore.

I feel unreasonable for thinking this, but it is bugging me a bit.

Once you've given a present it no longer belongs to you (but you know that).

She may be saving it for a really special occsion. She may hate it. But what she does with it now is not up to you! I think YABU, if you mention it to her.

Did she definitely want a watch? I don't wear one, because I just don't get on with them. Perhaps she is intending to exchange it but hasn't got around to it yet. You shouldn't feel peeved with her - it's probably awkward for her.

I have a watch which my grandparents gave me for my 18th birthday (my grandfather had died a few months before, but the watch had been cohosn at this stage). I used to war it, but the strap often needed replacing and it's not waterproff, so not very practical. however, it holds great sentimentality for me and I'd nvr part with it, and I do love it, but even to wear it for a spcial occasion, I'd have to put a new battery in it each time (don't get out much). That was almost 20 years ago, but my watch is timeless (no pun intended) and precious to me. I think I'm just saying that just because she dosn't wear it doesn't mean she dosn't like it iyswim.

thats 'chosen' - rubbish new keyboard and a few glasses of red to blame there!

Maybe she has exchanged it but not told you because she doesn't want to upset you?
