To wonder how people are affording this " great resignation?"

So during lockdown everyone had time to reflect on what they really want to do with their lives and according to various media sources we are now undergoing a " great resignation" whereby people are handing in their notice to do something more part time or more meaningful.
With inflation squeezing household budgets how on earth is anyone affording to resign? Slightly jealous as work is stressing me out.

We've lost a lot of people but I work in tech industry and it's exploded over the pandemic with most roles going to remote and so many new roles being created which has opened up a lot of possibilities to work for companies that were previously too far away or weren't recruiting.

Its a definitely a great poach!

I've got recruiters ringing with roles paying 30% more than I'm on now with more flexibility. Demand for highly skilled staff is through the roof.

@MrsWinters

I think it’s more a great poach. There’s loads of jobs out there at the moment, so a huge amount of movement in the market
This. My employer is historically one of the better paying in the industry but we’re haemorrhaging staff at the moment.

A lot of employers have got used to paying crap wages for a long time, you could always recruit from the EU or the Indian subcontinent if when you weren't offering enough to attract Brits. Now Covid & brexit have massively reduced international mobility, employers have to actually offer enough for staff who are going to live in UK long term and afford to raise families here.
