A footballer Kurt Zouma (apologies if already been mentioned here) has been videoed kicking his cat and chasing it yet West Ham says they've condemned his actions and he's apologised.

AIBU to be disgusted with him?

foul foul man

@VladmirsPoutine

By the end of this week I fully expect he will have been dropped from the team.
Good
LuckyAmy1986 · 09/02/2022 20:06

Listen I’m not defending the guy - it’s sickening what he did and god knows what else goes on in that house tbh.

jimmyjammy001 · 09/02/2022 20:08

In his statement most likely written by his PR manager "it was an isolated incident"
I'm sorry no way does someone have a camera out ready to film something if it hasn't allready happened many times before, bloke needs sacking and a massive public backlash, got the money so think they are untouchable

Iirc the title of the video was "here we go again" The childs reaction, the brother laughing and the cats reaction tells us very obviously this wasnt the first or second or third time. This happened a lot. It speaks volumes that anyone put this up for anyone to see. It means they saw nothing wrong with it ever.
ilovesooty · 09/02/2022 20:16

@TheOnlyMrsMac

I understand from a DC that Zouma is being racially abused on social media - the vile monkey emojis and so on. I'm sure that he got some of this before his violent abuse of the cat, but racists - most of whom will care not one jot for the cat - will use it as an excuse to racially abuse him some more.

Let's be clear: boo him, chant 'that's how your cat feels' when he's down injured, take the cats into RSPCA care, investigate him for animal cruelty and safeguard his children and his wife, fine him, bench him, sack him, sack his manager for playing him, cancel his sponsorships and the club's sponsorships, prosecute him and ban him from keeping animals, make him a social pariah - he and the club and his brother deserve all that.

But if you racially abuse him, then that makes you as much of a scumbag as he is. A different scumbag, but still a scumbag.

Absolutely.

This with bells on. Classic words from an abuser who has been caught in the act. I really hope social services check out the home situation.
ChardonnaysPetDragon · 09/02/2022 20:18

ClaudineClare · 09/02/2022 20:18

If he is getting racially abused that is absolutely not on and the people doing it are scum.

RacistsAreGoingToRacist · 09/02/2022 20:19

Well said @LuckyAmy1986

You'll always get people falling over themselves to deny that THERE IS NO RACISM EVER! once you mention it, as if they speak for every racist and non-racist alike. We've already had at least one charming one here last night who thought this was the right time to strike. So race has already been brought up because of racists.

I haven't gone anywhere else online about this but I've heard and can imagine other racists foaming at the mouth and blending in with non-racist and calling for fire and brimstone on this person, and some with very little care for the cat.

Which is why I don't have some discussions in certain places because you have no idea which category anyone falls into and from what pov they're posting. Sometimes you can tell no matter how it's hidden but you'll never know for sure.

For the record, Zouma made his bed and should lie in it. What he did was despicable. Same for everyone who's cruel to any animal and those who video themselves or someone else being cruel to their pet for laughs online.

ilovesooty · 09/02/2022 20:21

His colour race and ethnicity are irrelevant. He's an animal abuser, a bully and a safeguarding risk.

bluewanda · 09/02/2022 20:22

He’s an absolutely vile individual, just like that woman who slapped her horse. I hope he loses his job over this, same as she did.

MrBoPeep · 09/02/2022 20:22

But do I reckon the general public are more outraged about this than if it had been a white footballer? Yes
Nah. I'm as outraged at this cunt, as I was towards the white cunt who kicked her horse. They are abusing defenseless animals and I don't take kindly to it, no matter what their skin colour is.

What did it say? I dont recall a spelling error but I was a lot shocked at what i saw.
ChardonnaysPetDragon · 09/02/2022 20:27

It was "Sa commence"

And a break in the video, two joined together - what happened in between?
LindyLou2020 · 09/02/2022 20:30

@GreenLunchBox

Sorry, but it is disingenuous. I don't watch BBC Breakfast, and the views of whoever the "pundit" was, and Dan Walker, are not mine, and don't interest me. Why would you assume they do?

Had you read my post correctly, you would have seen that I condemn deliberate cruelty to a defenceless cat, AND racism in football.
Racism in football is, unfortunately, a long-running issue which we need to chip away at, whereas this issue with Zouma's cat has hit the news, (and will be forgotten before we know it).

As other PPs have said, hating racism, and hating cruelty to animals, are not mutually exclusive. You absolutely can care about both, and any/all other forms of abuse.

There seems to be PPs on this thread who are more or less condemning those who are upset about this cat, and equating this with therefore not caring about racism, because it suits their agenda.

It's becoming a childish, political, competition as to who cares the most, and what issue is the most important, and, as often happens on MN, the OP's post has been hijacked.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 09/02/2022 20:31

Not sure I want to know, TBH.

saraclara · 09/02/2022 20:35

What he did to that cat is of an entirely different magnitude to what that woman did. Obviously they were both very wrong, but if you look at the videos, they don't compare. A man picking up and then drop kicking a cat to the other side of the room, is going to do massively more damage to the animal than she did to the horse. And he did it for a laugh, rather than out of frustration.

Both things awful, but one was psychopathic.

mrkramps · 09/02/2022 20:37

@PlanetNormal

Planet nutcase, you are.

runforyourdog · 09/02/2022 20:54

@BABAHOTEL I didn't mean the child would be distressed just that it's a really awful way to behave in front of a kid. What example is that going to give?

Also who is the nasty fucker doing the video??

His brother.

LexMitior · 09/02/2022 20:58

The whole family night in-- kick the cat and have a laugh. Vile people.

CrinklyCraggy · 09/02/2022 21:44

In news you couldn't make up, just last night a cat that had been missing for 7 months was "rescued" by footballers during a game

The cats have been removed by the RSPCA
Good to hear.“

Well no, not quite. He handed them to the RSPCA to be checked over, according to Radio 4 PM programme.

I’m extremely worried that they will be returned to this despicable piece of shit.

The West Ham management are just as bad, allowing him to play.

Heartwarming to hear fans in the stadium shouting their disgust.

Bin him. Arsehole.

TheOnlyMrsMac · 09/02/2022 22:19

The cats will stay in the care of the RSPCA until the investigation is concluded. What happens then depends on the outcome of the investigation. Given what we have all witnessed in the video, I will be very surprised if the cats are handed back to live with their abuser. I'd also be surprised if he wants them back.
