Partner very ill, agency won't rearrange flat viewings

We live in a rented flat, my partner is very unwell at the moment and bedbound, awaiting PCR result.

There were supposed to be a couple of viewings on our flat this afternoon as we're moving out, but I asked him if he me to try and postpone them and he said yes.

I told the agency but they didn't really seem to understand and said that they can't rearrange the viewings as it's inconvenient.

I do understand that and don't want to mess people around, but he's got a right to rest uninterrupted in the flat if he's unwell no?

Put a notice on the door saying covid positive do not enter. Put a chain on the door and don't open the door. If you don't have a chain then block the door off inside with some chairs.

It's the agents problem if he decides to bring people over after you've said no and told them why.
I'd follow up with an email informing them you are awaiting covid testing as you have symptoms and no one will be allowed inside.
You let them know. Now you refuse entry.

Don't answer the door or your phone for the rest of the day.

But thankfully we're moving out soon and thanks to this advice I'll know what to do next time

What! Were they let in?

VikingOnTheFridge · 08/02/2022 17:21

Quite apart from anything else, why on earth would they want to show a flat with a bedbound covid sufferer in it? The place is hardly going to look tip top!

Briarshollow · 08/02/2022 17:23

If I were your partner and got dragged to answer the door for a viewing, despite cancelling it, I’d have said “Why are you here? I told you I’ve got Covid,” and closed the door. Then the estate agents would look deeply incompetent and they’d definitely not let themselves back in.

collieresponder88 · 08/02/2022 17:32

Tell them it's Covid

BashfulClam · 08/02/2022 17:36

I’d have replied, viewing are very inconvenient to us so going forward we will not be allowing entry.

bakebeans · 08/02/2022 22:23

I’m sure they would be rearranging if you answer the door and say that he’s Covid positive!

HomeHomeInTheRange · 09/02/2022 08:24

Emphasise Covid! Which is the facts.

Saying ‘inconvenient’ makes you sound a bit awkward.
