New kitchen for under 10k

AIBU to think we can get a new kitchen for under 10k

We’ve got a small/med kitchen. 8 cupboards and 5 drawers.
We don’t want anything fancy- laminate worktops, new cupboards, tiles, new sink, new extracter fan.

Everyone on Mumsnet seem to spend over 20k on their kitchens.

I’m too nervous to book an appointment as I don’t want to look stupid as we’ve got 8k-10k to spend

@kerosene20

Our kitchen is 3X2m. We have ordered a b and a alpinia with oven and hob, which was 2.7k. 1k for a fitter. Definitely doable!
Wow, I’ve been quoted just over 7k for the fitting alone by b&q!

We recently had a B&Q kitchen fitted for an area measuring 3m x 2m. That included 7 cupboards (4 above counter, 3 below counter), new sink, plumbing, tiling and a new floor. £4500 all-in, This also included a bit of electrical work to move / re-wire sockets, but no new appliances as the old ones are still fine.

We had ours done for less than 10k, including appliances. The trick is getting a cheaper fitter, but it is hard. Ours said he's never charged more than 1k for fitting - although that doesn't include tiling, as DH does that quite happily. We were quoted 5k by one company for fitting alone! Cheeky buggers - it's a tiny kitchen! We used DIYkitchens.com, and the fitter said they are one of his favourite companies to use, really good quality.

This time last year I'd have said no. I have spent the last year researching. My kitchen is 4m x1.69. So long but narrow.
I have had 2 quotes, one from Howdens and one from DIY kitchens, which I have just purchased. The Howdens one was 5k, but had an extra larder unit, and 1.5m extra narrow sideboard and wall cupboards. Incredibly the DIY kitchens one was 1.9k. Amazing price! I haven't scrimped or gone for the cheapest stuff either. I'm just doing a like for like refit as I want to sell, but it's got decorative features, cornice, pelmet etc.
Quotes to fit varied wildly, but difficult to compare some as some were for extra things that I decided not to go with. Anyway, it is costing £1.4k for fitting. Additional costs are £100 for light and fitting of it. £80 fitting flooring, flooring cost approx £200, wall tiles £50, £150 fitting them. Appliances: I only need extractor and hob, the rest are fine - so another £200. All in cost is just under 4k. I'm really pleased with that!
