To desperately want to find the name of this book

Please help me find the name of my favourite book!

It’s about a girl who has a baby and goes to another city to live with a man who travels for work. She’s his housekeeper and he’s an architect. He takes her to this bridge nearby that he has designed and it turns into a romance book…. Does anyone recognise it??
Pretty sure it’s set in the UK but may be wrong
TIA

You can't remember the name of your favorite book?

What time period is it set in?

Vitavee · 06/02/2022 03:08

After googling your description I found “His pregnant housekeeper” by Caroline Anderson.
There’s an architect in it. I hope that’s the right one!

lily28 · 06/02/2022 04:06

It's a Freya North book, think the title has the word Secrets in the title but not sure. She's just got a new book called Little Wing if you like her books.

yogafairy · 06/02/2022 04:33

@lily28 is right. I came on to say Secrets by Freya North.

5keletor · 06/02/2022 04:38

That was quick! I might try to find a copy, always looking for new books to read.

Breastfeedingworries · 06/02/2022 04:39

While we’re asking. I’m trying to remember a favourite childhood pop up book. To buy for my dd.

It’s either a wolf or a fox sending out paper letters to invite different animals to dine with him. (There’s all the little letters in the book) his aunt is to put them all in a big pot and eat the lot! Happily that doesn’t happen. It’s a lovely beautiful looking story. I’ve tried all kinds of googling and can’t find it.

Thanks mumsnet xx

5keletor · 06/02/2022 04:58

@Breastfeedingworries I think the one you're looking for is Dinner With Fox by Stephen Wyllie?

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 06/02/2022 05:02

Or Postman Fox by Emma Damon?

Breastfeedingworries · 06/02/2022 05:19

You’ve found it! That’s the book I want. Found one that’s over 100 🥲

Really wish it was for sale somewhere.

Redhot24 · 06/02/2022 21:08

Now this is weird … should be on a different thread . I just knew it was going to be this book . How strange ???
I’ve often wished I could remember the name of the book and the author because It’s set in Saltburn which is one of my favourite places.
I’ll be rereading it as soon as I get my hands on it.

ThinWomansBrain · 07/02/2022 02:22

@Breastfeedingworries - not sure which of the books you mean, but have your tried abebooks?

www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/SearchResults?sts=t&cm_sp=SearchF--home--Results&tn=postman%20fox

if its the "dinner with fox" - that's upwards of £150

apparently it's a retelling of an Aesop's fable - ebay have a version by another author - but not the pop up version

SuperSocks · 07/02/2022 02:32

Alright Mumsnet book detectives (if you don't mind me crashing your thread OP, as your question is answered now?) who's going to help me find my favourite 'big child' book?

Easy chapter book, suitable for 8-11year olds
4 children of around that age, working together as a team of friends
They live in a village with a pond brimming with wildlife which they're keen to save
It's going to be filled in by the bad guy (can't remember why)
Bad guy is going to get married to a lady, who's fashion conscious and not a countryside person but nice enough - her name is 'Prunella'
Bad guy lives with his dad who's even badder - if I remember rightly bad guy's dad sticks him on top of an angry bull when he's a small boy which traumatises him. They're both cruel towards animals.
I can't remember exactly what happens but the kids break up the relationship but subtle means. I think it's kind of humorous?
I read it in the 90s, going to assume it was written and set in the modern day for the time!

Please help me! I've tried googling key phrases but nah, not helpful.
