Friend’s holiday pictures

Friend has gone on holiday, luxury resort, amazing destination. She’s posted daily pictures online but every single picture is just a selfie of her in her bikini or a mirror selfie. Not even her in her bikini with the pool in the background or with the beach or other scenery, just a close up of her. I want to see pictures of the amazing destination that I have no chance of ever going to not lots of selfies.
Is this what people do now?
Clearly I’m being a bit of a bitch but I just don’t see the point in these pictures!

I think it’s very awkward when people only post selfies/photos of themselves (and do so with alarming regularity) and in my experience they are never very good looking to people either.

That said, having had 2 children and worked so hard to lose the weight I absolutely did the unthinkable and posted a bikini photo last holiday as I was so proud!

Only because they’ve been talking about this holiday for ages and I’ve shared in their excitement and been looking forward to it on their behalf so when I saw she’d uploaded pictures I was eager to see where they were only to see a reel of selfies. And the same the next day. I don’t mind her posting selfies. She looks good in them. I just thought it was odd not to post anything other than selfies. I don’t CARE care, I was just a bit disappointed not to see more of where they are and what they’re doing after hearing them talk about it for so long. But it’s none of my business I suppose and I’ll be able to ask her more about it next week when I see her anyway!

Good on her if she's got the body confidence. She'll probably look back on those lovely photos one day and be very glad she took them.

You might want to see photos of the destination but she doesn't owe you that.

Yanbu. I’m all for positive self image and see nothing inherently wrong with a selfie or two…but if your ‘holiday photos’ are all selfies, I’m not going to tell you you’re gorgeous hun. Tedious and embarrassing maybe.

There’s a lot to like about British people and culture - and being self-effacing is absolutely one of the top ones.

OP you would love my holiday photos. Not a selfie in sight. We dont take so many pictures now but when DCs were small the photos were a way of showing DGPs the places we had been to and things we had seen.

Maybe give a big thumbs up, you look great etc. Then say you're dying to see all the touristy pics when she gets back.

Maybe they've taken a camera and she's just posting from her phone right now.

This is the thing, she’s really not boring in real life. She’s lovely and interesting and has lots of interests and does lots of things. She’s alway posted a lot of selfies of her and her partner together but they’ve always been mixed with picture of where they are or what they’re doing. I think I was a bit surprised that their long awaited luxury holiday has been reduced to lots of selfies of her in a bikini with a small amount of sunlounger visible because that’s not how she usually is!
