@PinkSyCo

Those that put the lid down to flush, do you do that in public toilets also?
Most public toilets no longer have lids on them to prevent people doing cocaine off them - imagine the particles that must be in the air in a large facility with multiple toilets 😬

It really isn't to stop people doing cocaine it's to cut down amount of items that need cleaning.

Well when I managed pubs we were told to have them removed and that was the reason given. It happened elsewhere at similar times

That is pubs where people may be likely to do cocaine, many hospital buildings don't have toilets with lids on eithier.

Hospital buildings are different as they need to be extra clean for infection control. We were sent a training video when we were asked to remove along with other signs to look our form. It showed loads of examples of traces of cocaine taken from public toilets of all sorts of descriptions. It was a general info video sent out to many establishments not just pubs. Anyway not really worth arguing about - the relevant part to this post is there often are none so maybe those who are worried about always closing their domestic toilet kids might wish to keep wearing their covid masks now it's been raised

Interesting.I never even notice if public loos have lids or not tbh, probably because I don’t worry about putting it down, but now you’ve pointed the fact out to me I now realise why I can’t ever remember having to lift the lid (luckily, because that is something that I would NOT want to have to do), so assumed that was because no one ever put it down. Anyway so now I know, and if flushing with the lid up is good enough to do in tiny public toilets, where there is no escape from flying particles of shit, and in hospitals then it’s good enough to do at home.

@SparklyLeprechaun

I thought it was common knowledge but it's not something I give any headspace to. This fear of bacteria is ott, if you let it get to you you'll never leave the house.
^ This. It's fucking ridiculous. I have 59 years of flushing with the lid up and I am still alive.

Yup never feel clean after using a public loo

brighterthanthemoon · 13/11/2022 22:08

They taught me this at school. With a horrible video with that glow in the dark spray and a tooth brush

Always do. I can tell if I have visitors cos the toilet lid remains up whereas I close it and keep it shut until next time I use the toilet. Plus it also prevents DCat from slurping out of it

Sparklingbrook · 13/11/2022 22:14

TOILET ZOMBIE

asblindasabat · 13/11/2022 22:16

I never close the lid when I flush the toilet - even when There’s poo. Never done me any harm!

Yellowdahlia12 · 13/11/2022 22:17

I only found out about this about a year ago but always close the lid now.
