To think putting a nappy in this particular bin is a bit grim?

Just been at a trampoline park with DC.

There's a fenced off area separate from the main hall with smaller trampolines for the little kids. In it is a recycling bin - it's one of the large bucket types with no lid.

Little kids being little kids they like to "post" things in the bin occasionally or thrown balls land in it.

Anyway parent of a small baby changed a wet nappy and put it in the bin without rolling it. First I knew of it was retrieving a basketball from on top of the open nappy. 🤢

Aibu to think they should have gone to the bathroom, changed the baby and put it in the bin there?

Perhaps she was massively sleep-deprived and didn't notice. It's hardly the worst crime in the world is it?
Even massively sleep deprived you know it's still gross to put an open nappy in an open bin. I guess should be grateful it wasn't a poo

How does sleep deprivation stop you from balling up a nappy properly?
Well sleep deprivation can do anything from make you put your milk in your glass and orange juice on your cereal to have full on hallucinations to leaving your child behind at the shops. Could it make you put a nappy in the wrong bin? Yes, I would say so.

Of course YANBU. I can't believe the first couple of replies.

Surely, if you use disposable nappies, it is automatic to fold them into themselves and use the tape that is already on them to seal them?
I would have automatically then put them in a nappy bag when out when my dc were little.

Plus, of course, why would anyone think it was okay to put a nappy into a recycling bin ? Confused

@housemaus

You want people to stop using a bin for its intended purpose so that children can use it as a basketball hoop?

YABU.

Parents there should be teaching their kids not to put things in the bin. Trampoline park should probably get a lid on it if it's a recurring problem of balls landing in there.

"Parents there should be teaching their kids not to put things in the bin."

Why?.... that is its intended purpose.

Yes I always ensured I wrapped my non-biodegradable fresh poop-plastic wraps inside an airtight plastic packaging because I want the environment to experience a nice hot shit smell as soon as that outer packaging gets an opening in 50 years' time because I really, really despise the environment.

Really lazy and ignorant of the woman to put a nappy in a recycling bin at all, let alone her letting it contaminate everything because she couldn’t be arsed to fold and seal it.

the likelihood is that she is just a lazy minger.

Why make excuses for disgusting behaviour?

Bet she drove there too. And obviously you can’t drive if you are that bad you stick a soaked nappy in the recycling.
