To think someone has stolen my coffee & spoon?

I keep my coffee and spoon on my desk. I always sort my coffee at my desk and take my spoon to the kettle and bring it back. Today I went to make my coffee and it's gone. So is the spoon. From my desk. I know that I brought it back yesterday as I had tea at lunch and brought my travel cup home with the teabag still in it, gross I know lol.
I had to have tea at break so when I went to the canteen to the kettle, I double checked the cupboards incase i "somehow" left it there and someone put it away.

I don't want to make a big deal of this but am obviously a bit pissed off. I don't have any reason to think why any one would intentionally take it, but on the other hand but the only option left would be a cleaner binned it... Which I highly doubt as it was basically a new jar.

@WalkingDownTheOnlyRoad there was a margarine thief in my previous work place. After I had used my marg I would carve the words "fuck off Ann" in my marg as we all knew who it was. She didn't do it again.

Coffeethief · 04/02/2022 17:02

Well we are home. Not in the car or house.....if its been stolen I hope the high caffeine levels give them the runs! If I've binned i (yeah right,)I'm an idiot.

@KarenTheGammonRemoaner

Barrie?! Barrie did nothing wrong. You weirdos taking his stuff like that. He had the last laugh. (no this is not Barrie. But I am an avid Barrie supporter

Ok you've got me there. We didn't actually steal Barrie's spoon though, we washed it and put it back! I feel much maligned now! Wink

PickledOnionSandwich · 07/02/2022 05:28

How rude!!! Twice, someone in my old office took my mug…it actually had my full name printed on it!! One time the fecker left it with cold skanky coffee overnight in a meeting room. Another time, another person just left it on her desk so I went and took it. I hate mug stealers.

Phew 😥

Longingforatikihut · 07/02/2022 06:09

The trick with mug thievery is to write on the bottom "Sandra's cup" so when they take a drink everyone knows they've stolen someone's cup.

I keep everything in my locker after colleagues drank my entire unopened 2litre bottle of squash in the two days I was out sick. One assumes each their thought 'she won't notice just a little bit missing'. And don't get me started on the butter mole!

FrippEnos · 07/02/2022 07:01

Longingforatikihut

butter mole

I think that we need to know :)

FrippEnos · 07/02/2022 07:02

We had someone that would take any food that wasn't locked away and someone that took an entire set of brand new mugs bought for the department.

Cappio · 07/02/2022 07:08

Guarantee it will be someone senior who fancied a
coffee but has never actually organised bringing their own in. It always is.

I had to explain to a consultant that it wasn’t appropriate to keep taking the coffee off the admin girl on min wages desk 🙄.

It doesn’t occur to them that other people have paid for it, it’s coffee, they’re thirsty. End of

PurBal · 07/02/2022 07:11

I know your pain. Colleague borrowed a pen from my desk (a really good pen, not the standard issue biros) and lent it to a client. Client didn’t give it back. Lend them your own fucking pen.

Longingforatikihut · 10/02/2022 06:11

@FrippEnos I brought butter in to make myself toast. Forgot to take it home on Friday. Having used it once. Came in Monday to find that someone had dug out a huge hole in the middle.

@Cappio it's always those on the highest bands taking off the lowest. Once had a consultant 'tell me' to wash his cup. A, it's not your cup, it's mine. You took it without asking. B, wash it yourself, and I'll stand and make sure you do it properly. Tried to report me to my senior. Senior told him to swing.

CounsellorTroi · 10/02/2022 07:01

It was also always the highest bands who left the kitchen in a mess and didn’t wash up after themselves too, IME.

Sometimes my cup and spoon are gone from my desk, usually the cleaner had moved it to the dishwasher, could that be it?

Toddlerteaplease · 10/02/2022 13:00

I drink out if a glass king mug. No one steals that GrinGrinGrin

Toddlerteaplease · 10/02/2022 13:00

I once worked on a big team and we had one team member who hoarded his teaspoon, but when he wasn't about we used to help ourselves to it. Until the day someone noticed he made his coffee, ate his yoghurt, licked the spoon clean then put it back in his drawer. Yes Barrie, I'm looking at you!

We left it well alone after that though.

Serves you right to be honest, you can’t just help yourself to other people’s things. Confused
deleteasappropriate · 24/02/2022 19:06

You're right @Mollysocks. It definitely taught me a lesson I never forgot.
