To really hate having my picture taken receiving a parcel

I probably am.

My work laptop died this week, therefore my manager had to order me a new one, delivered to home etc. 8.15 this morning I'd just sent DC off to school, I'd been working albeit on my phone from 7am, just about to put actual clothes on when there's a knock at the door, parcel force with my laptop, I'm still in pjs, no bra, not brushed my hair and 'flash' a picture taken to show I've received it.
I know it's their job and we can't sign but surely he can do what Hermes do and take a picture of the bloody thing just inside the door with only my feet showing?
Of course delivery confirmation goes to my manager who couldn't care less but I'd rather they didn't see me looking a total mess.

I go behind the door and leave my hand holding the parcel. I’m not comfortable with the mm taking an actual photo of my face with the parcel either

FartVandelay · 02/02/2022 23:01

Only if it's your neighbour's parcel that you plan to try and steal

Blueeilidh · 02/02/2022 23:05

They shouldn't be taking a picture of you without permission. Picture of item in door should be enough.

PopcornPeacock · 02/02/2022 23:25

Me too. A few weeks ago I received delivery of a parcel requiring the usual photo. I went to step behind the door whilst holding up the parcel from out behind it, and the driver stepped into my hallway and slammed the door into my knee screaming that he had to take a photo.

It bloody hurt, so much so that I roared at him 'how dare you force your way into my home', and using the door pushed him out, forcefully, and locked the door, all whilst he was still bleating about his darn photo.

Not seen him since!

Yes this.

A postie I’d never seen before was really creepy about getting my face in the pic made my skin crawl when I thought about it after. Usually my feet at the parcel is enough. I hate to think of some creepster having pics of women 🤢🤮

foxgoosefinch · 02/02/2022 23:41

Must be against GDPR surely? I’d complain and ask them not to do it.

Mustbemagic · 02/02/2022 23:42

Mine are always placed on the doorstep and with a photo when I open the door of my parcel beside my bare feet.
I often wonder if Hermes delivery drivers have a side hustle selling feet images online...

tulips27 · 02/02/2022 23:43

YANBU, the first time this happened I was totally shocked, taking a photo into someone's home without gaining their permission first and then emailing to people is awful.

Nope - it really isn't.

Same! My doormat says "welcome my pretties" so that's always in the pic which amuses me
ComtesseDeSpair · 02/02/2022 23:57

You need to style it out like this woman in a somewhat similar scenario: www.reddit.com/r/ContagiousLaughter/comments/jecq4e/when_you_disarm_the_alarm_system_the_panel_takes/

@Pinkflipflop85

Any data where an individual is identifiable can only be stored under certain conditions, including allowing the individual a right to erasure of the data.

Taking a picture directly of an identifiable individual without explicit consent is unlikely to fulfil any of the five other permitted grounds under GDPR - there’s no vital interest, public interest, legitimate interest, and there is no need for the photograph to complete a contract or under legal requirement, so it’s difficult to see how any delivery organisation is fulfilling GDPR with these images. Where are they getting stored? For how long? If an individual requested all data and erasure how are they complying?

User310 · 03/02/2022 00:02

Mine just take photos of your feet next to the parcel.

DickheadMcDickFromDickTown · 03/02/2022 00:05

Me too, had a person take a pic of my particularly beautiful young SEN son holding a parcel and asked them to delete it. They were quite arsey about it. I didn't want my beautiful & vulnerable child's pic available.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 03/02/2022 00:20

We've got a load of photos of the cats taking delivery of parcels. The best one is the wee furry shite sitting on top of the two hundred quid's worth of wanky cat food and already gnawing away at the corner of the box.

OnaBegonia · 03/02/2022 00:42

My friend is a courier for a well known company and they're been told no faces and definitely not to have kids in photos , an open doorway is adequate.

OnaBegonia · 03/02/2022 00:44

Also, the courier once photo is taken has no access to it as they click complete delivery and photo is gone, so no side hustles or keeping your photo.

betwixtlives · 03/02/2022 01:02

yabu, why do you care

Thanks, that's good to know
Mo1911 · 03/02/2022 01:34

I've never had my picture taken unless it was my toes peeking out!!

mummykel16 · 03/02/2022 01:37

Yanbu

jytdtysrht · 03/02/2022 01:47

All the photos I’ve had are feet/floor/legs. Never had one of my face.

ThinWomansBrain · 03/02/2022 01:50

as pps have said a photo that is identifiably you (even braless in PJs) is personal information, and parcelforce have breached GDPR

storminabuttercup · 03/02/2022 10:19

Thanks all glad most agree. It was really annoying me yesterday!

This morning they delivered a parcel for my job merchandising. I had my nightshirt on no bra only knickers underneath. I'm a 64 year old mum. He actually asked me to smile and took a photo of my face and body I am very annoyed and feel violated it's just not right I'm going to complain. It was a different courier.
