To think that looking at a problem isn't going to fix it?

There is some storm damage to part of our property that is something only a professional can repair. It is too high/inaccessible for us (or anyone without the right tools/insurance/training) to tackle.

We have spoken to our tradesman about booking in for repair. Due to excessive storms, he is understandably very busy but will fit us in as soon as possible.

Other tradesmen and women are similarly booked up, so I'm content waiting for the one we regularly use to fit us in.

Our neighbour is consistently catching us to speak to us about it suggesting we come view it from his garden so we can really appreciate the extent of the damage.

I know the extent of the damage. I can see. I can also see that it is not causing danger to life, and any danger to property is to our own; not his. We are comfortable that repair works will be arranged and carried out ASAP by someone who we know will do a good job.

Standing looking at it every day will change literally nothing. Its a waiting game. Stop asking me to come look at it! Stop asking me when it's going to be repaired! It doesn't even affect you!

Lots of homes around us (within a five street radius) have storm damage much worse than ours and work hasn't even begun on those so how they think we can magic up repairs instantly is anyones guess.

What do they hope to achieve by us both standing looking at it rubbing our chins?

Turn up with a coat, hat and a flask cup. And a notepad. Ask him if anything has changed with pen awaiting..

When he says nothing just go home!!

Grin

I was contemplating sending my equally chin rubbing, nonsense talking uncle around to contemplate the scene together

It sort of depends have you told them exactly what you have planned?
Is it something like roof damage which is currently only affecting your property, but potentially cause damage to their property if roof tiles fly off in any more wind?
I can see them getting a little anxious if it appears that you are not doing anything.

Yes they know we have asked the tradesman to fit us in as soon as possible.

Due to the location of the damage, any potential falling debris (none yet) would basically fall into our roof or down into our garden. It's not tiles / sheets of anything which could be carried by the wind.

If its storm damage, then why haven't you asked your insurance company to deal with it?

Because its minor. And a cheap repair. And would likely still take as long to sort.
