Oh the pain

I had recently had a coil fitted following a miscarriage.

I’d heard the media hype last year about pain relief being available and how traumatic some women found it.

Well can I just say, that it was the most painful thing I’ve had done in a very long while. The nurses gave me a numbing gel but it didn’t help at all

They laughed about the comments some women made that they felt violated - but you know something I totally get why they felt that way!

I was gripping onto the bed for dear life and thought I would feint.

Anyone else experienced this or am I just being precious

The thought of having a coil fitted if you haven't given birth vaginally is awful I mean it's going to hurt!! After all your cervix never goes back to the same after you've given birth.

So sorry for your loss op Thanks

I think that the first one is almost surprisingly painful - they downplay it and actually it really really does hurt.

I found that my second one was much better because I was prepared for it to hurt, and the third, fourth and fifth were fine - just pinchy, as they were between/post having DC so my cervix was much easier to get it through.

Mine was twenty years ago but it was agony . The pain never stopped and my body was seemingly expelling it like a foreign body ( or so they said ) I had to have it removed about six weeks I think after I had it put in, which I'm sorry to tell you was an equally traumatic experience . Sorry you've suffered so much 💐
