Ideally looking for a family caravan holiday, anyone got any recommendations of holiday parks in Devon or Cornwall?

You can easily do a day trip from Dawlish to Brixham.
I live in Devon and don’t really like Dawlish, dawlish Warren is nicer imo. Sandy Bay at Exmouth has good reviews.

Another vote for either john fowler or perran sands.

Oh following Brew

Sandy Bay in Wxmouth is my favourite holiday camp we've ever been to. The beach is lovely, good accommodation and good entertainment complex too. The wildlife park next door was a really good day out too. The kids had such a good time and we really want to go back!

Fin lake in Devon is a lovely place to stay with activities on site. It is a central location to the beaches and attractions x

Live in Dawlish, recommend Cofton completely as well. It's family run, no big chain. We visit often for the coffee shop/swimming and always say we would happily come on holiday.

Beverley Park, Goodrington (near Paignton). Lovely site within walking distance of a beach. Great facilities on site and Torbay ‘the English Riviera’ has plenty to offer and is a great base for the rest of Devon

@Hasselhoffsheadband oh god I'd forgotten the music in the shower blocks. Woke me up every bloody morning as our pitch was quite close to the block. That and the stupid massive light on the pitch marker/hook up point that we had to cover with tin foil and masking tape every night to make it dark enough to sleep! I seriously hated that place.

Tencreek near Looe. Family owned and run park, swimming pool, clubhouse. Not too far from the beach

Summerhouse1998 · 02/02/2022 11:25

@Rainydays55

Is Dawlish/Dawlish Warren a nice area *@Summerhouse1998*? Is it local to Torquay / brixham for a day trip?
Travelling from Dawlish Warren to Brixham would take you about 45 minutes. I know Torbay very well, so feel free to ask any questions

I was also going to mention Finlake. Close to Dartmoor but also easy to get to places like Haldon Forest, the Torbay area, Exeter, Plymouth and the South Hams.

Hi, I can’t decide to stay at Twitchet house or Woolacombe Bay , I have 12 and 10 year old daughters, any advise , looking for best use of swimming pools and slides

ihatebojo · 21/08/2022 13:33

We just had a wonderful holiday at the Golden Coast in Woolacombe

Crispyturtle · 21/08/2022 14:07

I live near Cofton and it’s lovely, I take the kids there for swimming and the play parks quite regularly. Exeter, Dawlish, Teignmouth all nice & close by. Torquay probably 30-40 mins, Dartmouth a bit further but gorgeous and well worth a visit. Dartmoor 30 mins away. Ferry from Starcross across to Exmouth for day trip. Bike path runs from Dawlish Warren to Exeter & down the other side of the estuary to Exmouth. Powderham Castle, Killerton & Castle Drogo easy to get to if you like national trust. Powderham often hosts concerts & events in the summer. Plenty of water sports locally. Creally amusement park, Pennywell farm. Absolutely loads to do round here, in fact we’ve just been on holiday with my family about five miles up the road and it was brilliant!

We stayed at Golden Coast in Woolacombe in a bungalow - lovely for small kids. Both Woolacombe and Ilfracombe are nice. Haven Devon cliffs is good too. Our favourite is finlake but it's not the traditional holiday park that I think you are looking for.

Do a sewage check before you book anywhere.
Loads of beaches (including Exmouth) have had sewage warnings issued recently because South West Water have been dumping raw sewage into the areas.

Surfers against Sewage have a map where they put up warnings, but not everything is on there.
