For being jealous of office workers?

I know that office jobs aren’t easy jobs by any means!!!

But I work as a health worker around schools. I’m constantly seeing students back to back every single day. I liaise with staff members, parents, professionals non stop until I clock out.

I love my job but sometimes I do feel jealous of those that can sit at a desk and not have to speak to anyone. Some mornings I just don’t have the energy to speak to people, I just wish I could sit at a desk (or better still, work from my sofa!) and just do some work by myself. I do find myself getting jealous of my friends who can drag themselves into the office and just do computer work, or work from home.
I think I’m just exhausted from it and I know I’m lucky to have the job I do, but does anyone else share my view?

I get where you are coming from, but yabu if you think all office jobs are like that! Grin my average day has at least 4 meetings, at least half of which I'm the main speaker, around 100 emails and countless phone or face to face conversations. I basically talk all day every day, often in a formal and constrained way, and it can be utterly exhausting. I love the job though so accept this as part of it, otherwise I'd definitely change

YABU! I'm so fucking bored by my desk job...it just pays more than other more interesting stuff so here I am in absolute silence, typing away, in my comfortable fancy office, wanting to throw myself off the building if I have to correct another fucking typo. But then again pay day is soon which should keep me happy for a little while lol.

You wouldnt want my last job op. Photocopying patient charts few hours at copier. Mind numbing. Clickey bunch in office. Hated it. Short term contract. Had enough offices since that

YANBU. I'm a teacher. I mostly like my job, and I'm part time, which makes it considerably easier. But throughout my career I've often eyed the calm, quiet haven that is the school office with a bit of envy Grin. And that's offices in schools!

Desk jobs do involve meeting people (in normal times) lots of calls etc

I used to do a job like yours and am so much happier now in my office role. For me it's about autonomy. As long as I do the work required of me I can have breaks when I please, little chats and a laugh with colleagues, do more challenging tasks when I'm more on it, and do the less onerous work when I'm less motivated or sharp. I have a particular dislike of being tied to a schedule, such as set appointments, particularly one not of my own design, and don't even really like it when I have pre booked meetings.

My husband is an "office worker" but is never in office really, pre/post covid. Probably spends 7-10 days per month out of the country at meetings, same again in uk at meetings, between travel and preparation, he Probably spends 3 days per month in the office..and that's normally submitting expenses or having things signed. And during covid he was wfh.

Then you’d hate my office role. 5-7 hours a day of meetings. 2 hours of actual work
