Hi

Looking for ideas for a hotel for a few nights in Bangkok for the first two nights of our honeymoon. I'd love somewhere really nice as I only intend to do this once. We haven't worked out the rest of our trip yet but would like to make sure the first days are great. Any ideas?

We stayed at the Peninsula on our honeymoon. Loved looking out on the river

We did Chiang Mai and Koh Samui as well as Bangkok. Perfect holiday - beautiful place. Never had a bad meal the whole two weeks!

Our Koh Samui hotel was fab - on its own private island www.capefahnhotel.com

(in fact, think it was a mumsnetter who advised on itinerary!)

We stayed at the sukothai on our honeymoon and it was great.

We also stayed in the Anatara Hotel for the first night of our honeymoon, it was wonderful. Told staff in check in we were just married and they sent cake up to our room to share Cake Smile Treated kike royalty by all staff and really good cocktails in the bar also. Went on to Chiang Mai for authentic Thai experience and Phuket/Krabi for Island experiences, would highly recommend Chiang Mai in particular if you are touring around. Wasn't overly keen on Bangkok but a rooftop restaurant or bar is a must.

Ooh. If you’re in Thailand for 2 weeks, I’d do 3 or 4 days in Bangkok, and about 4 or 5 in Chaing Mai (elephants, hill tribes, cooking school, night markets, wandering around), and fly down to one of the less backpacker-y islands Koh Chang was nice when I was there about 6 or 7 years ago. Overnight train to Chiang Mai was fun (if not luxurious) and a n interesting experience. So much to do around Thailand. I’ve been going for about 25 years, mainly when back & forward to NZ for ex-DP family visits. I love it.

St Regis is amazing.

Go shopping at MBK and chatachuck market.

The Sofitel is lovely and really well located. If you are going to add on a beach then The Surin in Phuket is my fave place on earth

@HundredMilesAnHour

Since it's your honeymoon, surely The Peninsula is a must?! Make sure you get a balcony room with river view.
Personally I wouldn't go for the peninsula. There are much better and nicer hotels and apartments on the river.

Chatrium Hotel Riverside Bangkok

Absolutely beautiful. Breakfast was amazing. They also provide a regular boat service up the river to the nearest sky train station, which was really useful for getting around!

We stayed here on our honeymoon and totally loved it. Great tip is to email each hotel before you arrive and say its your honeymoon and if there is any chance of an upgrade if possible. We did this and 3 out of the 4 hotels upgraded us for free. Chatrium put us in a 1 bed suite with a balcony overlooking the river.

We've stayed at the Dusit Thani and the Lebua State Tower. Club rooms in both.

Dusit Thani was beautiful, very classy and upscale but in a slightly older genteel way. Looks closed at the moment.

Lebua was more modern. The roof bar is worth a visit for the sheer scale of the height although it is terrifyingly high, with glass walls. The actual hotel was nice enough but nothing too exciting. The breakfast was incredible though, one of the best we've had. Nowhere does 5 star breakfasts like the Thais, they are exceptional everywhere we've stayed.

We went to the buffet dinner at the Peninsula and it was excellent. When we went we did wish we'd been staying there.

We've been to Krabi, Kho Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, Phuket and Koh Samui. All amazing to visit but Koh Samui was quite expensive for hotels. We rented a villa and would highly recommend that, it was utterly beautiful and you can still a driver, chef etc.

Thai hospitality is amazing and on the whole the people there were absolutely lovely. Hope you have a great time.

Stay at the Lebua! It's the one from the second Hangover film. We had butler service. It's got a great rooftop bar, an afternoon refreshments/tea service and and amazing pool as well. The accommodation was great value also

Mandarin residence was amazing and just by lumpini park

Triotriotrio · 10/02/2022 07:55

Thanks all. We had a look and booked The Tower at Lebua for 3 nights and will be booking the Banyan Tree for the last night. Still working out whee to go in the middle!
