Chances of being prescribed metformin??

Has anyone got experience of being prescribed metformin for pcos?
I was on it around 6 years ago due to fertility issues but it was a fertility specialist that prescribed it. Since having my dc my periods are basically non existent, I have constant pcos pain and have been really struggling with my weight. I am hoping to ask the drs to put me back on it but I don't know if they will prescribe it if I am not ttc?

@urghhhhh33 I've been on and off metformin for PCOS for years now, it does help!
I just have to change dossages quite often because my insulinbe resistant it's irregular and it reacts differently on small changes on my day-to-day life.
Good luck

Ah that's interesting to know. Do you mind me asking what dosage you are on? And did you feel side effects as soon as you started taking them? I'm not feeling anything yet so don't know if I'm just lucky or if it's because I'm on a lower dose this time round!

I had been trying to get pregnant for about five or six months with no job. So I made a phone appointment with GP, told him I wanted to try it, explained my reasons, he prescribed it. I found out I was pregnant that weekend so didn't end up taking it.
