Vaccination appt - organisation

I'll preface this by saying I adore the NHS and am aware that everyone is working flat out and things are tough.

My booster appt was at 10am. There are roughly 100 people in the queue in front of me, all with an appt time of 10am. There are 2 people jabbing in a v small vax clinic.

Why organise things like this? I get there will be an element of no shows etc but to give well over 100 people the same appt time just seems so stupid.

Lots f v elderly people in this queue, it's about 4 degrees where I am, no sun, and it's very cold. I just don't get it?!

I guess my AIBU is: should this not be being better organised by now?

The centre I volunteer at has been so quiet since Christmas. They did start offering walkins alongside booked appointments because there was a 40-50% noshow rate as so many people were catching Covid. So possible that yours had high no show rates and then today more turn up than expected.

The other possibility is that they planned to have 3-4 vaccinators and only 2 turned up. We had that one session, planned for 9 and got 7, it did not take long for the queue to build up and wait time maxed out at 1.5 hours :( I was going down the queue offering to rebook people, but most chose to stay.

The early days were actually easier - everyone locked down, just popping out for their jabs.

It's hard to juggle now - people arriving for the 1st through to 4th jabs, different rules depending on age or covid status. Each appointment taking slightly longer as a result but multiply an extra 2 minutes by 500 people and you can see how delays happen.

@CorrBlimeyGG got to love a drama llama. There were lots of elderly people in the queue. Sone of whom were having their 4th jab. I live in an area with a high volume of older people.

Also - calm down dear.

@WhatsitWiggle I think maybe one - or two - vaccinators weren't in, there were only 3 rooms available and only 2 were in use.

It reminded me a bit of being on overcrowded trains that everyone had brought a ticket for - let's overbook and see what happens type thing!
