(Lighthearted) Just that, really!
YABU, sweet chilli sauce gives it a lovely twist, or:
YANBU, actual chillies or chilli powder should be used as no sugar is necessary!

This is wrong and I'm disappointed to hear of Nigella's recipe.

I must admit, I've never made a truly good one and am looking for that elusive ingredient.... but it aint sweet chilli sauce.

Will try the cocoa powder thing, cheers.

My MIL puts heinz beans in and it makes it so awfully sweet. Chilli should be earthy.

OmgIThinkILikeYou · 30/01/2022 06:47

I would probably do it if I had forgotten chilli's or chilli powder and randomly had a bottle of that in the cupboard. But no, it shouldn't be the main way of making it.

I need to know if sweet chilli sauce is the only flavouring or if its an addition on top of the normal stuff. The former is an abomination, the latter may be just about edible if it's a tiny amount.

Dark chocolate is the only vaguely sweet thing that should be in a chilli.

I had chilli with dark chocolate in it once and it was vile. I add paprika to mine.
