AIBU to freak out?

Had a look through my son’s phone, which I do from time to time for safety reasons. He has a few messages from his friend asking if he can come over so that they can have willy wars. What the hell are willy wars? Is it what I am imagining and if so, surely this is very weird for a 12 year old to be asking his friend to do! My son always replies no to this but I am concerned that he keeps asking. I am going to have a chat with my son later but wanted some advice first.

Clearly freaking out isn't a good approach.

Have a calm, composed, sensible conversation with your son and then his friends parents.

Thanks @girlmom21

I didn’t mean freak out with my son, I’m just freaking out a little in my own head wondering what’s going on.

You'll probably find it's just a stupid (but completely inappropriate!) game and your sons doing the right thing by saying no, but it's good for him to know he's doing the right thing and you'll make it stop.

Mockingjay100 · 29/01/2022 15:59

I hope that’s all it is @girlmom21 but I find it weird that he is actively asking if he can come over specifically to do this.

Google tells me there is a version of hoopla called willy wars which was on sale in Poundland 2 years ago. It involves throwing hoops over a strap on inflatable willy I think. There is also a computer game called wily wars. Could be either of those perhaps?

You sound very homophobic. Not sure if that was your intention, but just letting you know that's how you come across.

OP, you are completely overreacting and OTT, I'm embarrassed on your behalf honestly! Stop snooping through people's personal belongings that don't belong to you.

You realise that she is looking after the online safety and security of her own child...not snooping through 'people's personal belongings that don't belong' to her. Her child. She gets to check his phone.

I had a friend at around 10 who always tried to get us to touch each others genitals.

OP is doing the right thing.
