Do you think BJ would...

... foster a war to sidetrack the public attention from his failings?
I think he is surely capable of doing it but do you think he would do it just to save his arse and stay in power?

Yes or no?

Never say never, it would certainly distract from other things. It's a scary thought.

2YearsOfWastedTime · 29/01/2022 12:31

With him and Biden
Im surprised Russia havent attacked us!

WhatIsGinLiqueurAnyway · 29/01/2022 12:32

Yes. He thinks it would make him look churchillian. It's all about him. Or he'd fail to read his briefing notes again and start a war by accident.

meditrina · 29/01/2022 12:34

If you mean over Ukraine, no. Because he does not control either Russia or NATO, and it is Putin and Biden who will have the greatest say be far.

There's more in it for him if he can get any credit at all in averting conflict, or dissipating tension

DrManhattan · 29/01/2022 12:37

@2YearsOfWastedTime
Totally. Putin could just take control of the UK in a morning if he wanted to.

2YearsOfWastedTime · 29/01/2022 12:49

@DrManhattan

Its mental how we have him as a ‘leader’

Agreed, though HMG could probably make a few Russian eyes water if they decided to take a bit of interest in some of the money that flows through London.

What makes you think he hasn't already?

minipie · 29/01/2022 14:12

No I don’t think he would, it would take too much effort.

thereisonlyoneofme · 29/01/2022 15:06

no of course not how ridiculous

Noisyprat · 29/01/2022 15:25

I have to say I find it alarming that evidently he is going to speak to Putin next week. Boris Johnson is a liability and an embarrassment and only cares about himself.

WhiskeyMakesMeFrisky · 29/01/2022 15:25

I clicked this thread hoping it was a different BJ being discussed!

DrManhattan · 29/01/2022 16:20

@ThreeFeetTall
I'm sure we wouldn't be dealing with this absolute shower we have at the moment.
I don't know what makes me more sick - Boris and his lies or the way some Tory MPs kiss his arse. Its so cringe. I feel like they must have no self respect. They must die inside a bit everytime they say how good he is.

FatherBuzzCagney · 29/01/2022 16:40

In theory? I'd put nothing past him (except integrity, hard work and competence, obvs).

If this is about Ukraine, the UK is a complete irrelevance except for the equipment it can send Ukraine. On Ukraine, Johnson has as much diplomatic importance and influence as the PM of, say, Portugal or Bulgaria (no disrespect to either of these fine countries). No one outside the UK gives the tiniest shit what he thinks or does in relation to Ukraine. Russian TV is laughing at him and talking about partygate.

FatherBuzzCagney · 29/01/2022 16:43

Amused that he's described as going to "the Ukraine region" next week. You could say that if he was off for a stag weekend in Tallinn - which is a lot more likely than him turning up anywhere for statesman-like talks.

TyrannosaurusRegina · 29/01/2022 17:02

Doubt he could be arsed dealing with it, it'd just be extra work for him and he'd prefer to coast along doing as little as possible.

StoneofDestiny · 29/01/2022 17:40

He will do absolutely anything to keep himself in position (apart from behave like a Statesman and moral human being)

Peregrina · 29/01/2022 17:51

I could see him blundering in by accident and making things worse. I imagine that Putin will barely be able to keep a straight face when he meets Johnson.

I think the clever money ATM is that if he goes anywhere in the region it will be to one of NATO member state in SE Europe that has a sizeable number of the Uk armed Forces currently on it’s soil.

He’ll be there just long enough for him to have his picture taken with a few of those troops, timing will be dependent on the release of the Grey report…….

Timing of course will take into account the release of be based on the news cycle

notimagain · 29/01/2022 17:55

Ignore last line (edit function please etc )

Peregrina · 29/01/2022 17:59

Yes, he will be pratting around in a tank and a helmet.

user1493494961 · 29/01/2022 18:06

Barmy.

kickupafuss · 29/01/2022 18:08

Yes. I worry he would do anything to further his own interests and if that meant going to war he would.

In the context of the Ukraine standoff Johnson really really isn’t in a position to decide, all by his lonesome, that the Uk is going to go to war……

Fortunately.

Estonia fits the bill, I think, so he can dick about with a tank for a photo op and still spend most of the week enjoying himself in some oligarch's palace while he waits for the Sue Grey report to blow over back home.
