What will you do when we no longer have to isolate?

Inspired by another thread which has shown a very clear split between people who are less bothered about coming into contact with COVID positive people and those who think coming across a COVID positive person would be the end of the world.

What will you do when we no longer have to isolate with COVID?

Personally I will be thrilled and we can just get on with our lives at last.

What about those who are CEV?

Sorry poll is,
YABU - Ending isolation is the end of the world
YANBU - Can't wait, why are we still isolating anyway?

LolaButt · 28/01/2022 16:42

NC fail?

MooSakah · 28/01/2022 16:42

I'll do what I'm told but avoid seeing my CEV friends unless I've done a test.

Are you OP?

Being a carer I will inevitably risk infection and not be able to work zero hours.

LittleSnakes · 28/01/2022 16:52

Why the name change?

Pointswesthelpplease · 28/01/2022 16:54

Sorry I NC the other day for a post unrelated to my usual posts and clearly have not swapped back properly! I will work out how to do it correctly.

GTAlogic · 28/01/2022 17:01

Being a supply teacher I have come into contact with several people, adults and children, who have later tested positive. In the last month I've been in 5 different schools and therefore in contact with hundreds. As of yet, I have only had it once, which was almost a year ago and before I was vaccinated. I am waiting for things to return to normal but, at the same time, it is proving to be very good for my bank balance.

ShallWeTalkAboutBruno · 28/01/2022 17:02

I’ll just live my life.

EvaDene · 28/01/2022 17:04

If COVID positive stay at home if I'm too ill to work, carry on working (in schools) if I'm well enough.

There will be absence policies for employees to follow which will dictate the above I would assume.

Etinoxaurus · 28/01/2022 17:13

I’ll wfh if positive and I won’t go out until I’m test negative.
I’m aware that’s a very privileged position!

Sparklingbrook · 28/01/2022 17:16

I will do what I have always done. Not well enough to go to work I'll ring in.
CEV relative has not long had Covid and after 4 jabs prior and a drip of anti virals at the time came through the other side. And this was someone who their GP told 'you do not want to get this' at the start of all this. So a great outcome and they are happy to do the same.

Knackeredmommy · 28/01/2022 17:33

Do what I've done the whole time. Test if seeing vulnerable people or going out and test of feeling unwell. Otherwise get on with it. If positive avoid going out, I WFH so have this option.

catgirl1976 · 28/01/2022 17:35

If sick I would take sick leave.

If well enough to WFH I would do that and avoid going out / seeing people (so in effect isolate but still go out for walks etc)

ShallWeTalkAboutBruno · 28/01/2022 17:39

Just to note that one isolation is scrapped, Community testing probably will be too…

KurtWilde · 28/01/2022 17:40

I'll do what I did before covid even existed. If any of us are too poorly to go out then we won't. If we're not too bad we'll do essential things but won't go breathe all over family etc just for the sake of socialising.

TheFishWillSeeYouNow · 28/01/2022 17:45

The same as I'm doing now - stay away from people if I don't feel well, and carry on with my life if I feel healthy.

Echobelly · 28/01/2022 17:49

Can't be sure as it may depend what the general context is, like will they still have tests/much public data around as to the likelihood of something being COVID. I'd probably avoid seeing people, certainly vulnerable ones, if I have any really bad colds, which I would anyway - my mum has CFS/ME so I'd never see her when unwell as viruses can make her really ill.

Sparklingbrook · 28/01/2022 17:50

Yes, I think all this testing will be gone. So people won't be able to say they're WFH to protect their colleagues because they have Covid. They won't know.
Coconut49 · 28/01/2022 17:56

YANBU - can't wait for isolation requirements to end. If I feel ill, I'll stay at home. If I feel ok, I'll carry on as normal. Had 3 jabs so not worried about Covid now. If tests continue to be available for free, I would test if someone wanted me to but otherwise I wouldn't.

gorseinon28 · 28/01/2022 17:59

I have a choice about how often to go into an office, and can minimise the chance of infecting someone. Other people have no such choice, and so I think isolation should remain.

maddy68 · 28/01/2022 18:00

Why is there no in-between option?

Sparklingbrook · 28/01/2022 18:01

@maddy68

Why is there no in-between option?
What would that look like?
BreakingUpWithMyPhone · 28/01/2022 18:07

I imagine it would look like people being sensible and following the guidance in place at that time.

Sparklingbrook · 28/01/2022 18:10

I think once isolation is gone then there will be no guidance as such. People will have to make their own sensible decisions without being told what to do or restricted. Like grown ups.
