Husband and vegetables

My husband uses the words "cauliflower" and "broccoli" interchangeably. When I get confused because he's referred to some broccoli as cauliflower, he reacts as if I'm being pedantically over-specific, as if he'd said "potato" and I'd replied, "do you mean maris piper?"

AIBU to call a cauliflower a cauliflower?

They aren’t “the same but different colours” in terms of taste and texture though. They cook differently and they taste different and they have different texture. If you cook (“normal”) broccoli for longer than a couple of minutes, the fluffy bits on the end go to mush. Cauliflower doesn’t go mushy in the same way that quickly. Obviously they are related and you could often substitute one for the other - but if they taste distinctly different and cook differently, it’s worth distinguishing them!

Can’t you show him Google images to prove that even though he doesn’t distinguish them, most other people do?

Ltb, I'd be so sad if I was expecting cauliflower (the clearly superior of the two!) and got broccoli. They should not be used interchangeably!

I'd have to do loads of these start messing with all sorts of nouns and verbs etc as though they're irrelevant. Clear communication is important. It's a slippery slope op.

If dog huge up sly piffle separate is hedge!
