Online shop is coming tomorrow morning, last online shop was Friday but couldn’t go in to store to do top up shop Tuesday like normal due to covid. So what do people make when they don’t have much fresh stuff in? I am sure there are loads of things I could make with what we have but my mind is blank.

Could you make a mango salsa to have with the salad leaves?

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 27/01/2022 13:59

Egg fried rice if you have rice. Can use up the veg that needs using, you can also crumble a sausage in

nokidshere · 27/01/2022 14:01

My go to quick meal is 'risotto'

Bit of bacon or Ham fried with a bit of garlic/onion, add rice, chicken stock & frozen peas, put the lid on till rice is cooked.

Pasta Arrabbiata
Sausage casserole in a tomatoey sauce with the peppers, sweetcorn and peas with garlic bread. Use the leeks if you don't have onions.
If you are doing macaroni cheese Delia has a recipe with added leek and bacon which is delicious, one of my DCs favourites.

Savoury pancakes or Omelettes are our go to meal - add in what ever left over or personalise to each person.
On thé side add carrot / pepper sticks

JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 27/01/2022 14:03

A frittata? You could use some ham, sweetcorn, peas, red pepper, cheese etc with salad

HopingForMyRainbowBaby · 27/01/2022 14:06

Sausage pasta bake side of garlic bread

Sausages, carrot chips, peas and sweetcorn

Fishfingers, rice and peas. Side of garlic bread

Omelette cheese and or vegetable

Pasta with ham and peas and a cheesy sauce made with flour milk and cheese. Side of garlic bread

Iseeyoulookingatme · 27/01/2022 14:06

I would make pasta with the red pepper and sausages and for pudding I would have an apple crumble.

Gammon with macaroni cheese, salad made with the bagged salad, grated carrots and pepper or roast veggies

Quiche (you have the ingredients for shortcrust pastry) eg leek and ham, red pepper and cheddar, with salad

Sausages chopped in a tomato sauce (I'm assuming pasta sauces is what you meant by jarred sauces) with red peppers and pasta. You could add chilli too.

Toad in the hole with leek gravy instead of onion gravy, carrots and peas

Pasta carbonara using the ham or macaroni cheese with salads - the bagged leaves with the pepper, a slaw made from grated carrot, leek and apple in mayo with nuts if you have any. You could also use the pepper and mango with a vinaigrette (just google for recipes).

If you have some flour, toad in the hole plus peas, sweetcorn & carrots. Mango & yogurt for dessert, or baked apples (though Granny Smiths maybe not the best for this).

That seems like more than enough food, it's just a question of how you put it all together.

TedOnTheBed · 27/01/2022 14:20

Toad in the hole, carrots, peas and sweetcorn found some stuffing balls in the bottom of the freezer so that’s for tea.

Pasta with cheese sauce with the gammon and peas and salad

LefttoherownDevizes · 27/01/2022 14:27

That's pretty much what we have in state after a shop!

Pizza (famous MN 2 ingredient base), toad, fried rice (can use anything), Bolognese risotto (using sausage meat), ditto pasta bake, macaroni cheese, ham and leek in cheese sauce pasties, sausage and bean casserole, soup, curry, either Apple sponge pudding or stewed Apple with yogurt (and Apple sauce is lovely with toad)

Hope you're all feeling better soon

Gammon joint, leeks in white sauce and braised carrots.

ShallWeTalkAboutBruno · 27/01/2022 15:11

You’ve got loads more in the cupboard/fridge than we have and we haven’t got Covid… we’ve also got a shop coming tomorrow. We’re having pasta bake for dinner to eat up the leftover odds and ends of veg.
What sort of things do you usually cook?
